Anyone here tried it? Seems to be becoming popular in the US with good reports?

i have read of using clr for certain applications.
what worries me is that it is an acid, so specific things might need to be done it you put in a quality barrel.
until i get this clear in my own mind i will avoid it.
maybe try it on an old barrel and see what happens.
there is an old adage.
"if it is too good to be true it is too good to be true"

There are MANY excellent purpose made products available, so I would be VERY cautious about putting any acidic cleaning agent in any barrel of mine.

I posted this in the thread about carbon removal:

I happened to have a rifle sitting on the work bench that I was about to use JB to remove a carbon ring so I gave CLR a go. Half a dozen strokes with a wet patch, let it sit for 30min, clean out and carbon ring gone. I should have taken photos from the bore scope....

Having used CLR around the house for what it was originally intended for I would have no concerns about it harming the barrel unless you left it in there for days.

thanks guys had a bottle sitting there was going to try it sunday but bailed out ended up just using C4 boretech. Still though has anyone seen the reports over on accurate shooter?

I am a picky bugger, I won't use ammoniated solvents in match grade stainless steel barrels either. I also use moly too, so maybe I am a bit strange as well as picky!!!!

I have a can of oven cleaner in the cupboard, I might give that a go , it might work too. Nah, I think I will stick to what I know works!!!

It t would certainly remove the tarnish from the copper fouling, or is that tarnoff I am thinking of. Lol
