Well, by my count there's 45 A grade shooters left, down from 46 on day 1. The most popular division in F is FSA with 30, but by and large TRB & FO are also around 30, give or take, with FSB & F/TR on 20 & TR C on 7.

That's a better basis to analyze badge distribution.

Congrats to the winners - I think we have to concede that Rod knows something about Canberra conditions. Some say its because of the briefings he gets each night at the Eaglehawk pub. Also good wins to Ralph Garlick and Gary Faulkner .

Regarding badge numbers, its pretty simple. You decide what percentage of shooters should win badges (e.g. 30%) then estimate field sizes based on recent years, then add a few if there is an attached teams or similar event. Some organisers will weight award values according to which disciplines provide sponsorship. I think badge and medal costs should come directly from entry fees - vary the other trophies if you must.

a ruff estimate of 90 FC for both lead up and Queens for entry , accomodation , behind the bar , meals, about $30.000 ? I could be wrong ? Chop

Well done to all winners
No rain for the main event but a few of us are staying for a team practise, there's been a storm and there's a light shower falling on my hopefully water proof tent.
On another note, while the ETs are more convenient I for one would like to see manual targets at ALL major events
I have no idea of what's involved in organising markers etc
So it's just a thought
Better for the spectator too

Did you guys have more ET problems?

Does anyone recall what the top 10ish F Open calibres were?

Yeah the targets were good but far from perfect, a few lost shots and a quite a few strange groups from very good guns/shooters.
From my experience with NSWRA it's very difficult to get markers.
In Canberra's situation spending god knows how much money on 20 ET's and then not use them at their Queens when they probably only use 5-6 every other weekend would be difficult to sell to their committee, but I would almost prefer competitor marking than compete at Queens level on Kongsberg targets !!!

Mainly 7mm's of various calibers from 284's to 7 x 300 WSM and quite a few SAUM's.

Berger SWN in Phoenix Feb 2017 are capping their entries at 360. On manual targets marked by competitors.
Didn't check exact numbers but don't think the US F Class Nats got to 200? This year first on E Targets!

It is a long busy day but maybe the yanks have something? Quite social in the pits as well!

Also there was 1 Dasher shot all way though by me into 8th position.

It was good to see everyone again and while the conditions were not bad for Canberra the wind was tricky.
I think that the scraping of 300 and 700 and introducing 15 shot matches was a great idea.

Anyway see you all again next year.
