I was just reading on Accurate Shooter forum, that no mobile phone use is permitted on the range during competition.

Seems a bit strange, and they did not clarify if it was only restricted to the firing mound, but it was a father who was waiting details of his son's progress for the day.

Hello all,

All I can give you at present is some of the better Australian F-Open scores - there may be other good scores I've missed.

Marty Lobert down 3 points for the day (could be leading the whole event)
Dave McNamara down 5 points (probably top 5)
Cameron McEwan down 9 points
Alan Fraser down 11 points
Lewis Reynolds down 13 points

I haven't heard from Rod Davies, Mark Fairbairn. Most of the others I spoke to weren't all that pleased with their shoots today, Conditions were very difficult at times, and some got caught in the rough patches. Larry Bartholome (Nationals winner) lost 10 points at the last range apparently. But I can tell you that Marty didn't get it easy - I watched all his shoots from the next door scoring position and he had to work for it. And its great to see Dave Mac getting back to his recent Australian form.

I hope we get results online soon. At my local OPM results are displayed a few minutes after the last scorecard comes in. Things aren't as modern as you might expect in the USA.

Alan

These are the official rules (ICFRA & ours for comparison), but there's a possibility that the US is invoking domestic rules, which they are permitted under some circumstances.

ICFRA: F12.10. The only means of communication between the butts and the firing point is to be that formally used by the range and butts officers. No person in the butts is to use any other means of communication that could be contacted by any person in sight of the firing point.
In particular, mobile/cell phones must be switched off by all personnel in the butts and those within 20m of the firing point.

NRAA SSRs: 5.1.9 The only means of communication between the Butts and the Firing Point is to be that formally used by the Range and Butts Officers. No person in the Butts is to use any other means of communication that could be contacted by any person in sight of the Firing Point. In particular, mobile cell phones must be switched off by all personnel in the Butts and anyone within 20m of the Firing Point.

4.1.1.13 Whilst on the Firing Point, a competitor may not use a mobile cell phone or any other type of device which is capable of communicating either wirelessly or through a wireless phone network. This applies even if the communication capability has been turned off. See Rule 4.1.1.14 for permissible exceptions to this.
4.1.1.14 If Electronic Target Systems that rely on wireless communications are being used, it is permissible for Shooters, Scorers, Check Scorers and other Range Officials to use wireless capable devices for the purpose of scoring, check scoring and administration of the Electronic Targets System, provided always that this is the only purpose that the devices are being used for.

the lower lighters have now got everyone where they want them!
and 284s and 2 lug actions are not to be sneezed at!
there are some big hammers down the list.
over all the trend with the aussies is in the upper end compared to the lower end.
apparently it depends a bit when you shoot with the weather.
not all guns are fully up to speed, but there are enough on the boil to share in the teams.
it looks like our teams are in with a good chance to do well.
rumour has it that the raton flags are lighter than ours, making it difficult to get strength readings much over 8 mph.
keep safe,
bruce.

latest news from the coal face is that Marty shot a possible 75/15 to win the 800yd range on the 2nd day, while Dave Mac got 75/13. I haven't seen any higher scores so far. Bob Meade who was sharing points with Marty got a 75/11.
There is now a 15 shot 900yd and 20 shot 1000 yd to go.

Those are some great results from our F-Open and F/TR shooters. Particularry Dave Mc and Marty. Awesome shooting. Well done.

Bruce, just wondering why your saying the 2 lug action and 284 is the way to go? Are you saying 7mm as a cal or the 284 Win as a case. I run a 2 lug Rem 700 so thats good news for me :)

Again, Congratulations to all our shooters, no matter what your place, your doing us all very proud!!
