i sent a box back for replacement but i am looking at alternatives. Overall I like the calibre but its certainly not suitable for someone starting out. Thats creedmore territory... or 308.
247 cases! 150 of which are brand new ADG which is a 12 month wait if your lucky enough to make the waiting list.... As a per case rate, still only works out to $2.22 ea. Lapua is $3.10Ea and at least 18 months away. It's a great price imo
I use Lapua and now also Bertram. Bertram is an unknown to me at the moment, currently fireforming but will test at full charge next week ADG is highly sought after, excellent quality and has great longevity ( as good as Lap )
I got a full refund on 50/150 nosler cases that I bought from one supplier. I sent them a photo of the case crack after 2 firings and they offered a refund so I accepted. (the other 100 were from somewhere else and ill have to keep them)
I also have 97 bertram (used) cases that I just purchased at a very good price. I am fairly confident that with my body die and competition shellholder set I will be able to prep them OK. I am just using the normal shellholder at the moment with the my 100 nosler cases and its fine, no chambering problems. More generally, I would say the 6.5prc is great, but its a bit over the top as your only rifle. For mids Fopen, or as a second SH gun, its great. But for everyday with the latter I would get a creedmore or a 308. Its cheaper to run.
Aside from oldschool brass prep, they are great! 2nd firing of it has proven successful, both high and low charge. The case head seems very hard so won't show pressure as easily so bolt lift and primer inspection will be very important.
yeah the rcbs dies were def. hard on the necks... the new 3 die setup (Forster bush die, redding body die, forster mic seating die) I have is not causing any problems with the nosler brass. But I have some Bertram cases coming as well.
Yeah, I had 100 new cases arrive yesterday. I found the bertram guy on facebook but i bought them from rebel. I had to run it through the neck bushing to fit my tikka, because the neck was catching in the throat, because its thicker than the nosler by a couple of thou, so it should last looks like no other problems... should be fine
