Therefore they will apply for Teams.
It appears my front and rear rests/mats are now illegal and I don't even have a flat board. As they are written, just placing your rear bag on a ground sheet contravenes the rules.

How so??? rules read simply; boards without any protrusions, ie. spikes, donut bags on ground are ok or rear rest on ground or mat is ok. What exactly do you have??

Geoff,
Nowhere does it say that you may place your sandbag on your shooting mat,and if you did,it would exceed the 2 inches limit.
As well there previously there was no limit on the size of the front mat, only on the front board,if used.
My poor old 786x490mm mat that tho old dog used to sleep on,looks like getting the chop, all for the good of the sport,no doubt.

1. You may place carpet or similar flexible matting under both front and rear rests.
This is from the previous page from Bob Ped.
I read this to mean your mat or similar. The 2" rule is for the rear board if used. ie can't be any bigger than 2" larger than the rear rest on any side. not height.

Geoff ,
My concern comes from the rules director, dated 8th July 2015,SPECIAL NOTE TO FTR CAPTAINS,of which I have a copy. This is another version of the SSR'S.Rather than myself interpret the meaning of this, our Captain can try and get a definition.

Mike,
I have asked Bob P about this very issue, I have my rear bag on my shooting mat.
My question was -
is it still legal to have your rear bag on your shooting mat? His answer is -
Yes,
As long as the bag is not “fixed” in some way to the groundsheet.
BobSo its all good on that front.
