Tom, my previous point was laced with sarcasm, the rifle I have was built on a budget and it shoots far better than I am able to drive it, I'm not about to change anything or build something new, the day I can't shoot with what I have is the day I stop shooting.

unless you have to get a twin port stolle to shoot fast enough to compete when electronic targets dictate that rate of fire is mandatory.

I just get the feeling that some people think F/TR will just replace FS without the relisation that making the 8.25kg all up weight is going to be a battle for most people. Sure, it could be done, but it's going to cost money. It's not just a matter of changing what it's called.

For one match, no, not many people would bother. But if you want to try Match rifle F class, they now have an F/TR class in Australia.

The majority of people would prefer F std as it is in Australia, fair enough, its a good combination for 300-1000yds shooting, but if you want to try the 1000-1200 yd Match Rifle/F class, screwing in an F/TR spec barrel will give you some good long range practice should you decide to shoot overseas sometime.

What do you class as a f/tr spec barrel?

I would say the best all round twist is currently 11. You can shoot both 185s and 155 grain bullets.

A 12 twist will probably be OK for 185s and better with 155s
