When the SAUM brass in NORMA or NOSLER does come to a demise, is it PP loosening or something else?

I have heard of a loose primer issue with the 7mm SAUM cases. Not so much the 30 cal ones that have been necked down.
Has anyone seen this in their 7mm SAUM as I am about to start a load development plan with mine and keen to see what people have seen on this topic?

Peter,
For what it's worth, I've been using the Norma 300 SAUM cases, necked down. As indicated earlier, I'm on 5-6 firings with a mild load and no loose PP's
I have culled a few cases only because of incorrect case handling and/or preparation. From the original 200 I still have 180 odd left over.

Is anyone moly coating bullets with the SAUMs?

I Mollied from the first shot to almost the last but decided to change to WS2. I found that the WS2 applied better than the moly, although a mate of mine also noted that it might be more sensitive to moisture retention. I personally did not have that as an issue.
The biggest reason I mollied was to try and reduce the cleaning requirements or fowling potential and found that I still had to clean with regularity which is one of the reasons I changed to the WS2.

Albert, that might be why your velocities are a little lower for the same powder charge as Josh's?

Yes this is true... Even between moly and WS2 there was about a `10 -20fps variation with WS2 being slower than moly

Bit of a update from my previous post on velocities for a given load... I bought a small 500g tin of 2209 - MEM 5593. I had to reduce my load by quite a bit as 55.8gn of 09 gave me 2930 fps. I wouldn't have thought that a new batch would make such a big difference, but it did.... just a heads up for those at the upper end of energy and pressure limits.

2930 shouldn't be a hot load I would have thought?

Just be careful with 2209 powder batches. I have 2 batches that are pushing around 2920 with 53.5 to 54.2gr. Much over 55 is defiantly on the upper end and I'll be well over 3000 by 56gr. That is in multiple brands of barrels.

Brad, 2930 is not a hot load. I've been running very conservative loads in my SAUM. the reason I called it out is because for me to get to 2930/2950 with the old batch I would have to use about 56.6-57 gn. If I did that with the new batch, starting with 56.5, I reckon I might have blown myself up or got very close to it....

I’m shooting the Berger 195s and am happy to keep doing so.
Running around 2820 with RL23 1/2 X ring in good conditions from an 8.5 twist barrel in Saum
