Bruce's comments above are right out of step with the vast majority of F-Class shooters whom I shoot with. Thanks to those of you who have spoken up.

Until we are the dominant sport, we cant afford to do that. And even then is completely UNSPORTSMANLIKE to do that to them. We should be the bigger group and encourage them to get involved.

Also, your comments like that are probably what stop a lot of future shooters coming into the sport. It made me leave one rifle club here in WA due to that fact actually. Its because of people like yourself that there is a Them and US mentality at times.

Its just 2 hours drive for me and I would love to be shooting there. I shoot both TR and F-Class and never tried FTR or Bisley in a competition. Any would be fine for me.

And for the record, both TR and F-Class have their own challenges and their own plus-points. Most of all, they are both fun. I do have a preference for F-Class over TR as I have questionable eyesight when shooting around 800m (900 yards) but that is a fault (physical) in me.

I will attend if I am able at the time. Although these days I shoot F class std & open only, I would not attend if it were a "F" Class only event!
I fought the them & us mentality for years as a fullbore shooter when F class was in it's infancy, I will not turn my back on that now that I am in the other "camp" weather the F classes become the "dominant" group or not.
I respect who set up the NRAA shooting movement all those years ago, my view is that without the efforts of those pioneers we may well not have the shoots to attend today that we have. I also understand (but not agree with) the attitude of those fullbore shooters who saw F class shooters as "invaders" instead of "saviours" surely we would be just as wrong to do the same thing.

Spot on Keith. There's also going to come a time when we in turn will need to except "invaders" from some new fangled instant gratification class. I hope we have learnt from those few TR "bigots" how not to do it.

Going back to the topic of the style of proposed prize shooting in Goulburn, it is obvious that name calling is not going to result in churning out ideas. It is also obvious that we cannot forget TR and focus only on F-Class. And it is also obvious that TR takes more time to shoot than F-Class.

So can we have a prize meet with 2 optional sighters + 15 scoring shots for F-Class and 2 optional sighters and 10 scoring shots for TR?

Just a thought.

This is what I was thinking about. We could have 3 squads of 3 shooters. Each squad shoots on a single target Bisley style, each shooter having his or her own e taget monitor. With Ozscore we can configure 3 monitors to a single target. We could then have a f open squad, an fstd/ftr squad both shooting 15 counting shots, and a TR squad shooting 10 counting shots. We could start at 900yds, moving forward only needs the e monitors and battery walked forward, dial in 800 yds and go again. We could then be able to get down to 500 by lunch and hence be able to open the clubhouse for the reminder of the day. Please keep in mind we have not run an event recently and this is a learning exercise.

Should mention that at Goulburn we have some restriction on width of our firing mounds over the years half of the range has been given over to the pistol club and the SSAA

I like the idea of each discipline shooting at the same time so all the leaders get the same conditions as their direct competitors.
If here are more F Open shooters than there are targets, then on the 2nd day, arrange the squadding so the order of shooters in each disciplines is derived from the previous days scores.
I have read that Canada will be using 2 to a target Bisley style, so I would prefer to practice that way.
It sounds like it should be a popular event, good stuff.
