was beginning to worry this show might be a shooting gallery! it doesn't matter if your gun shoots .1 or .7MOA in those conditions!

If the wind gets serious from the right at Campbell Town, it can make Lower Light look like a pussy. There's bugger all between there & Cape Town to slow a good breeze. I've used more wind at MR distances there than I have at Lower Light, though admittedly, only a degree or so.

Just you wait. The 55gr bergers in an 8 twist 204 will surprise you in 45km/hr. In all seriousness, the 260 is all I will have. I blame the SA boys for leaving only dud kriegers in the SARA store. This one is going to get replaced with a new one not long after getting home. Bloody lemon kriegers.

Looks like our secret weapon will fit in quite well down there (20 MOA on the wind arm, seems tame).

We were concerned that if the conditions were too sedate, that we would have to run with the lighter 180 grainers instead

Gee Tony, dont know what you are worried about. So, we have a little bit of wind. Will be good to be aiming on our own target, rather than the one two across.

True story about Campbell Town.

We were down there in 2003 (I think), or was it 2002 for the Match Rifle nationals & shooting at 1100 yards. The guy on the target to my right got a bit of a pick up & lobbed a 3 on my plate - would have been a 4 if he'd allowed for the elevation change with that much wind. Anyway, everybody stops to reassess the wind. There was the longest pause, then finally, this ragged volley across 6 targets.

Down they go, then a l-o-n-g wait & eventually the butts officer runs from one side of the range to the other waving his flag.

We'd all misjudged the wind by at least 5 degrees, but not quite 8, or somebody would have jagged somebody else's target.

Thank God that if I get picked in the final Team I am only a trigger puller and not a Coach !
This is another true story .......or confession. The 7 or 8 moa that I had on for the worst of the wind at NSW Queens last year (when that bloody Roderick beat me) is the most that I have ever experienced. It sounds like I am about to have my eyes opened !
I guess i will just have to treat it as the next stage of my learning curve before my first look at Lower Light !
Hopefully Andrew Pearce and Jenni Hausler will appreciate the 40 moa of windage on March scopes
