Its all done and dusted now, Courtz and I both hit 59's at the first two ranges and I went into the final range with a lead of 1 point. Courtz then barrelled in a beaut 90.15 and I knew I was in trouble. Soon as I laid down it just went pear shaped with 3 fives at 7 oclock that nobody, even Bill Hallam who shot after me and copped as well, could explain. The wind by that stage just wasnt readable. Even worse news for me, Rod Rees had been doing very well and snuck into second on x count. It was great shooting by him with two 60's and a 59. Well done to Rod who did some work on seating depth on the saturday arvo to get back on track. And Courtz kept it all cool over both days to take home the badge.
We also had a metro vs country teams shoot and I shot first for country and after two unexplained 4's at 7 oclock my gun was retired and I had to finish on another rifle. I think there is a rather large amount of carbon in that barrel so its going to get some serious scrubbing. Maybe it affected my last range too, not sure. Anyway it came down to the wire and metro won by 1 point. Shame we had my and another rifle retired due to random shots in the 4 ring as if we could have only got one more point we would have had easy on X count.
In FS Bill Hallam won with a shocker last range- the target face blew off, it blew like mad and rained. Graham Oates leapt from 4th to second by only 1 point behind Bill.
Was a great weekend away and look forward to doing it all again.
