How can they not have squadding in this day and age!?

How will anything ever improve in this game if important topics that are identified and largely worked on (over YEARS), aren't embraced.

Apologies for the negative vibe. I'm still looking forward to seeing a great shoot unfold.

I’m not sure why squadding isn’t done but it’s the fairest system possible.
If people can’t book 2 weeks out from a shoot to organise squadding then they should just shoot last.

Queen’s Day 1
I was fortunate enough to shoot first unlike a lot of others, Canberra has really put on a welcome for all shooters.
Waiting for a good patch is more likely to be weeks rather than minutes.
Wind is shaping up similar to yesterday and should end up a washing machine after lunch
500m is nearly done, most have moved back in this pic.
Weather is pleasant enough
There’s a burglar from North Queensland who hasn’t dropped a point in F open- he mustn’t have got the memo about how difficult this range is...

A great day regardless

My tent is still standing which is good but I’m guessing I didn’t win the day

Matt P scored an 89 on the last range
Lucky he’s not in a tent

Queen’s Day 2
Another magnificent day
Flags were hanging down the poles with no breeze noticeable to start with but first shooters were loosing shots to ????
By about shooter 4 things were quite consistent with some good scores posted.
No rain and the coffee van is great-happy days

After lunch the wind is now approaching the washing machine it was yesterday.
Only one 60 so far quite a few in the low 50s
No easy patches
The tree at the 800 is the place to be

I agree this is the best option but at 800m today the weather gave everyone a belting.

Another good days shooting

Congratulations to all winners in those conditions

Queen’s Day3
News flash - there’s been a serious malfunction with the flags - seems like some joker has super glued them all to the poles???

Steve L shot a 90:11

I’ve just calculated I need a 90:15 for a shoot off for 2nd place.
If there’s a break in communication for a while my plan may not have worked or my calcs are wrong.

Good luck to all

The Queen’s is nearly done, only a few more shooters to finish
Conditions are the most settled they have been for the whole comp with slow changes.
Well done to Matt P for another Canberra #1 badge in very tricky conditions :!:
No shoot off for 2nd 90:9 just didn’t cut it.
Steve L left me in his wake with some superb shooting.

I’ll post the other results soon

For those who are shooting the F open aust team trial tomorrow we are meeting at the target butts area at 7am for a wind zero check with scopes set at 1000 yds
This will be available till 7:45am

Well done to all winners and competitors

The electronic targets seemed to run well with no stoppages or failures that I heard of.

The event was well run and the only improvement I can think of, apart from manual targets, is to include squadding of all disciplines.

An event well worth attending with a great roll up of shooters.
