Re: NSW queens
The last 800 was a bit of a gamble, the wind was changing constantly and the scores reflect that. I dont think anyone could really predict where the shot was going to go with much confidence....

Yes, shooting above the flags in changing conditions is not easy. Watching the other targets can help. Well done John Peters, Peter Drew and Anthony Ped. All good wind readers so there must have been something to help them.

Looks like most, but not all have shot the 2nd 800, and the agg shows them as soon as entered. Will all come out in the wash. Maybe TR have been delayed by (wait for it) the ETs.
I had a look at 4pm and tried to work out what was going wrong with scores but as there are no consistent factors, I gave up.
Alan, there have been no Extra Terrestrials at Malabar since they built that bloody great sewerage stack at the outfall.

Re: NSW queens
Yes, congratulations to Big John Peters, Peter Drew and Anthony Pederson, all have been shooting well lately.
In Open, Big John Peters will be one to watch. Since moving to F Open, gear problems have held him back from a few high placings, but he well and truly has everything going well now and is going great in the conditions. Another contender for the lead was Greg Warrian who has been shooting great in some tricky conditions, but getting caught in a real rough patch at 800m knocked some points off. Michelle Knudsen is another strong contender. Michelle was close to winning in Malabar a few years back until her little 6BR got knocked around at the longs. Michelle and her Husband Brent both got range wins today now they are shooting more capable 284s. Someone we will have to nobble, oops, I mean watch in the future is Michael Singleton. He was doing well in the better conditions, but his little 6mm just got knocked around too much in some of the rough stuff at long ranges.
Peter Drew had a convincing win in F std A grade, using his 223 for the 3,5 and 600yds. Daniel Sly overtook Garry Faulkner and Josh Reid for good 2nd place in the lead up and apparently his performance lately has been very impressive, so we could see more from Daniel.
New F/TR shooter Anthony Pederson and Alan Seaman were having a real tussle all the way through, with a fair lead and both handled the bad conditions well. It will a close match over the next 3 days. Will it be Anthonys youth and good looks, or Alans experience and guile to come through in the end.
As far as conditions are concerned, in the morning, things were not too rough, but certainly not a walk in the park. A few people got caught in some bad patches which were just starting to appear. After lunch and back to 800m, the flags did not know what they wanted to do. Just when it looked like they had settled into a consistent angle and people getting a run of 6xs and Xs, they would switch around the other way, sometimes only for a minute, though they usually changed back again by the time you got your new wind setting sorted out.
Calibre wise in F/Open, it was pretty much as expected with 6 Dashers and 6.5x47s being common in the shorts with the 284s being the main long range tool. A few 280 Ackleys have been appearing though and have been well suited to the tricky conditions.
The rumour mill has been circulating about some more possible interstaters arriving to shoot in the Queens tomorrow, so we will have to see what new we can deliver from the coal face for the first day of the Queens.

Well, looks like we're up again. Sorry about the problems. Someone with more expertise than me was needed to fix it.

Re: NSW queens
Well, its crowded at the top of all the leader boards. Looks like conditions improved today? We need that westerly to come back on sunday to make it interesting at 800! Is any kind person prepared to give us some equipment specs? Just calibres will suffice if time is at a premium.
Re: NSW queens
Hi All
The first day is done !!! Conditions in the main have been fairly reasonable except for the rain, most got wet during the first range but the rain stayed away for the second 500 and the 600. Scores at the two 500's were very good with many clean after the first 2 stages. A fifteen shot match at 600 made life a little more interesting with 89 being the top score all shot later in the day, conditions early were a little bit more variable and the scores showed it.
In Open the pack is fairly condensed Rod Davies and Ben Ferrara 2 down and John Peters 3 down with Steve Rigby, and then the rest. Calibers are a mix of 6 Dashers, 6.5x47, 260 AI, 284 and 280AI.
F Standard A has Ralph Garlick in the lead and FSB needed a shoot off to get a result with Joseph Jason being the victor over John Slack.
FTR has got a reasonable roll up with 8 competitors with Cedric May leading the pack.
Double 300, followed by a double six tomorrow, then the longs on Sunday.

Re: NSW queens
The queens remind me of my favourite western, Appaloosa.
After the gunfight at the jail: "That was over quick," Hitch observes . Cole's response says it all: "Everybody could shoot."
Its a bit like that at a queens, pretty much everyone can shoot so there are no easy wins, and every one is trying their best
I had wet feet all day today, so I will be sure to pack spare socks, as I have learnt there is no point putting on gumboots AFTER your socks get wet

Re: NSW queens
Don't forget we'll be having another online Calcutta tonight. As soon as the top 10 (taken from all F-Classes) is known at the end of today's shooting, I will post it on this thread and bidding can start.

Re: NSW queens
Day 2
As per usual Rod is in front in Open with a 3 point lead over the chasing pack, the day started under grey skys and as per the norm @ Malibar it rained, we had a halt to proceedings half way through the second stage of 300, scores dropped during and rain and picked back up once it stopped but was a little more patchy.
As soon as lunch was called the sun came out and rest of the day was shot under sunny skys. Conditions picked up a little as the NE wind came in and continued to build as the afternoon continued. Scores were generally pretty good with a few highlights, Rods 60.8 (with a 8 X finish) and 12 year old Alison Rigbys 60.6 with a 6 dasher
.
I doubt very much anyone can catch Rod especially if the forcast for Northerly winds comes true but the rest of the badge numbers are up for grabs.

Re: NSW queens
Well done Rod Davies, dropping only 2 points for the Queens - that's extraordinary
. And no disgrace to those back a few points, fantastic scores. And what about Ernie Mace! Being top of the rankings must have gone to his head
. We put the mozz on Josh in the leadup, but great finishing including that 60.10
. Also Anthony Pedersen's signalled his intent in F/TR. Watch out for this fella - he knows how to read the wind. And congrats also to F-Std B winner Jason Joseph.
Hope to have the rankings updated later tonight or tomorrow.

Re: NSW queens
Great win Rod
We will have to look out for those Cessnock blokes, they know how to shoot.
Great to see a top finish for Matt and Ben, keep up the good work
