Well they'll need to amend the following statement in the flyer before I'll even consider going.

"Electronic Targets will be used for all Championship Events"

$285 to shoot on electronics for one badge in FTR, yep, I won't be there either..

I would rather save all my queens costs up and shoot overseas.

Really, I hate saying it, but when will people just get on with it.

6 bloody badges for Fclass B grade... Even 3 junior but only 1 for the internationally recognized ICFRA discipline FTR.

What's the issues with the electronic targets? I have only shot on them a few times but remember them to be good especially when I needed to pick up the pace a bit.
Jason, one does seem a little low for ftr but they are catering for it so that's got to stand for something. They will be testing the water and the only way to improve the badge number is to have an impressive contestant number. It will take many years to get off the ground if people boycott it! I was actually surprised by only 3 for open, but looking back through past results I noticed there where a few lean years.

WRT badge numbers, I think the days of "us and them" is over, more shooters in category equals more badges.

I shot on the ET's there last year, it was a great experience.

Our club also has an ET, something we've learn't along the way is that how the ET is managed is of absolute importance, for example, a lost shot, the benefit of the doubt must ALWAYS be given to the shooter, and another shot given, good maintenance is also essential.

In the short time I have been shooting I've lost four shots that did not make sense to me, one on ET at NSWRA Queens last year and three at other various shoots, the why and how this shot was not able to be found in all locations is the same ( I either totally missed the target- entirely plausible or the scoring system failed to detect that shot - also entirely plausible ).

For some reason shooters are certainly initially pissed, but accepting of a lost shot on a manual target, but absolutely indignant about a lost shot on an ET.

If you decide to not come to the NSWRA Queens due to ET's being used, I feel you will be missing out on a good week.

I'm pretty sure Jim Bailey won't start sweating when he finds out Josh Cox from Cairns is coming to the NSWRA Queens this year, personally I'm going for the drinking and tall stories

ET's are the way ahead for our sport, we all need to put our heads together and work out how we manage the emerging ET technology to be usable and reliable.

I feel the NSWRA is brave for leading the way with ET's and I will continue to support them with my entry fees, presence and words.

Hi All
TR will be shooting on ET's and all the F Class's will be on paper, with regards to Badges I'm sure if numbers warranted it the badge list would be increased.
On a side note NSWRA are looking for sponsors, especially for the F Class's. TR has long term sponsors and the trophy's have been around for many years, if F Class wants the same (which I'm sure we all do) we need to help start make it happen, if anyone is interested please contact myself or the office.

I do have to say here that I personally feel we should be encouraging the right paths by positive methods rather than boycotting.

Turn up in numbers with a positive attitude and event organisers will have to put on more badges. There has been several cases of this recently in F class where badges were made after the event and posted on. This is due to rapidly growing participation. Places were still presented at the ceremony but actual badges made and posted. Most competitions will award on a percentage of participation and will be going on past numbers. If you boycott - there is no encouragement or "data" for them to base next years decisions or indeed make more badges for this year. Best message you can do is turn up in numbers and be positive and friendly. Support the event and they will support you.

I'm still a little confused about the rules of flying, can loaded ammo be taken with the correct permits, authorisation, carrier be taken or do you have to load when you get there? I read on another thread that powder and primers could not be taken and thought that might include loaded ammo?

Scratch that last comment, I can see that Qantas do allow it with prior consent, under 5kgs and declared.

FTR may be an international discipline but it is not well supported in Australia at present,if it is to grow,it needs people like yourself to attend as many events as possible.
How do you think F/standard is where it is today ?

Boycotting Australian competitions for overseas events may help your ambitions,but it won't further the cause of FTR in Australia.

I don't agree with boycotting either - counter productive. However as far as attending Queens shoots, I don't go to all of them, and choose which ones to go to based on a multitude of factors. At the moment, an important issue is reliability of marking, manual or electronic. Currently ETs do not have a good record, and that counts against them. Its a pity that Queens shoots are being affected - ETs should not be used at that level of competition until well proven at smaller meetings.

I should also add that early lodgement of entry forms may show the organisers that they are going to get more numbers in a class than expected and they may be able to get more badges done before the event.
