Who's heading to the ACT queens??

Post by BATattack »

Considering heading over for a shot as I won't be able to attend the SA queens because of a wedding and was wondering if it's well attended by f class shooters or is it mainly TR?

They also had a pretty strong Field in F Standard so I don't think you will be disappointed with the level of competition if you head over. The battle went right down to the wire last year, and the duel between Chopper and Bartman for 1st Place was a cracker to watch. It was certainly some of the best shooting that I have ever seen.
Extreme accuracy and precision shooting at long range can be a very addictive pastime.

I hope to get there, F Class numbers are great at ACT Queens.
Eagle Hawke Ridges or Eagle Hawk van park (has cabins) are popular haunts for F class shooters.

Adam,

Canberra Queens is one of the biggest F-Class shoots on the calendar - last year a total of 82 shooters. However the range goblins only allow a few favoured individuals to do well there consistently e.g. in F-Open Rod Davies and Paul Read, and probably in future Spencer Dunstall who has been one of the most favoured in TR :D . Everyone else can only hope for the crumbs...

Rod Davies, Matt Paroz, Ben Ferrara, Michael Henry , Tim Nugent and Steve Rigby all stayed at the Ibis Hotel, or in cabins at the van park attached to the Hotel right next door. They seemed fresher most mornings than Fairbairn and myself, who had to risk life and limb and drive down the road about a kilometer every night to get home after the Hotel requested all of us to leave :D
I am senile, apparently and can't remember all details, but will dig them out for you. It's only a ten minute drive towards Sydney from the rifle range, and right on the NSW border, but provided you have got "wheels" organized I think I could guarantee you will have a good time. It was a great event last year.
It also seemed pretty clear that a good time was had by all who stayed at the range. They have a terrific big Clubhouse with a bar, and it's a fun atmosphere.
EDIT- Rod named it for you while I was typing

Haha it's not like you to be happy with crumbs when there's a whole cake on offer Alan!

Thanks for all the info guys I'll do a bit of research and see how some barrels are traveling.

They do have FTR don't they? I will be there for the education and experience.

I may travel from home, it's just 2 hours drive for me. I just have to find better loads for the FTR version.

Well, what do you know? It's just 2 hours drive from home. I am looking forward to come in for the Queens. I just hope I don't run into any unforeseen work circumstances. Fingers crossed.

For anyone heading East to the ACT Queens, the Hamilton Rifle Club is holding a PM on the 8th of November, 500, 600,600. All proceeds are going to Stay Residential Services, providing support to people with disabilities in the Hamilton area.

This will be our first PM in 20 years. It's not an easy range, but if you like a challenge, please visit us.

Cheers
Danny

Ps Lower Light could be a good training ground :D
You might as well be yourself, everyone else is already taken.
