Proposed F CLASS Prize Meeting Goulburn March 2015
"build it and they will come" Next March, 2015, the Goulburn Rifle Club, NSW, is looking to run a special one day prize meeting to commemorate 150 years of rifle shooting in Goulburn.
As the Club, is almost 100% F Class, we are looking at running an F CLASS ONLY prize meet.
We have some flexibility with respect:
ranges from 300 out to 900 yards,
as F Class shoot quickly, the number of counting shots, say up to 15 per stage,
and the format, what about Bisley style. We could offer Bisley style to FTR, as practice for the Worlds in 2017.
There would be a commemorative badge for every entrant, as well as for the range and aggregate winners. The badges would feature "Rambo" the "big merino".
Would YOU come? Feedback Please.
If you want to send your ideas in private please PM.

Great idea Bob. I should be able to make it, after all - it's just down the road! I am sure several other Canberra F Class shooters would be interested.
My preference is for the longer ranges at Goulburn such as 7, 8 and 900 yds. I am not sure of the format for Canada but the World's at Raton last year were shot over 8, 9 and 1000 yds. 15 shots Bisley style is also a great suggestion but a decision on 2 or 3 person squads would need to be made.

Steve, we are completly open to suggestions. We want to make this meeting a bit different, but both challenging and enjoyable. We are honoring the past, but looking also to the future. I would like to have our most senior members (some I believe have been in the Club 50+ years) fire an opening volley to start proceedings.

15 shots Bisley style (doubles) at long ranges sounds great
. I really think TR should be allowed to shoot. If they held a TR only shoot, people here would rant about being left out.

+1 to Bisley style for F-Open and F/TR at least, 2 per target as Canada will be?
And agree with Rod. TR (and F-Std!
) need to not only be invited, but made to feel welcome. After all, 90% of Goulburn's 150 years would have been shot solely as TR! But aside from that, it is simply the right thing to do.
And I would like to get there. Any chance of making it more than 1 day to make the drive worthwhile?

You are right, we should look at TR Also. This a "kite Flying" exercise, and all feedback is welcome without predudice. Keep it comming. We are in the early stages of planning, so pls input.
We are trying to make the event a bit different if we can as it is a "one off".
Certainly not trying to start a F Class vrs TR discussion. If we can get the numbers, we will cater for all.

Fantastic idea- we have an event exactly the same planned for 2015 just waiting on WARA approval for it. 300-900m individual then 900m teams and a 900m bisley is what I would like to see (not sure if many here are interested in the bisley style)
Like you say- build it and they will come. F class history has to be started somewhere.
We are also going to invite TR shooters to attend and I plan on running FS, FO and F/TR.
Good luck with it!

March next year is a long way off but if I'm still alive I'd b inclined to come. I agree with most of the other responses - include TR; prefer the longs; and it's a bloody long way from my place for a one day shoot - although that could be ameliorated if there are some other PMs that can be included in the tour.
FWIW my preference in Bisley style is triples.

bob,
why not run an fclass only meeting?
it would be good practice for how things are going to be in the future.
keep safe,
bruce.

Bob,
As a TR shooter I would love to attend (and it's a good excuse to finally visit) and being so close to home I might even convince the wife to shoot with her 223 in FClass (longs or not) though I would probably have to wind coach her (ie she can shoot - but not compete so to speak - she shoots accurately and quickly).
Hell I might even drop TR for the event and shoot with the wifes 223 in F Class
Cheers
David

Bruce- lets be the better discipline and encourage co operation, as taking the us and them mentality to the future is going to do us more harm than good in this transitional period. Bums on seats is the only way to grow a prize shoot.
