City of Subiaco PM

Post by Quick »

Gents,

Thought id give a quick write up of the city of Subiaco PM which was shot today at Swanbourne range in WA.

Had around 50-60 shooters, about 10 in each FS Div 1 & 2 and three FO shooters. Course of fire was such:

7 shots at 300, 500, 600yds.
10 shots at 800, 900yds

Brett Bunyan ( Bass/Bell RC) won FS Div 1 with 234.14/246.41 ( I'm pretty sure)
Ray Hurley (Esperance RC) came 2nd in FS Div 1 with 233.xx(unknown X)
Shaun Stoffels (Bass/Bell RC) Won FO with 240.14

Brett B was running his 223 FS barrel for only the 4th time I think and shot very well to take the win. Though he did say to me he wished he had his 243AI barrel on. I am however happy he didn't as then he would have beaten me!!!

It was a tricky day with a gusting easterly greeting us at the shorts but many getting up with 42s in FS. The norm was 40-41 for many however.

The afternoon came around after an excellent lunch put on by the City of Subiaco RC and the wind came around to become a nice southwester but with lots of mirage. Couldn't see the X ring really for the whole day. Made doing precise holds tricky. Bob Kinnear and myself tied for 800yds with 58.2 each but I won on count back as far as I am aware. Bob then showed us how its all done with a 60.3 at 900yds with his 7RSAUM, the lil 6x47L ended up with a 59.5 due to a 12 oclock five from conditions otherwise a very flat group for the conditions.

Equipment used for the Open Shooters was 6x47L (Myself) 7RSAUM (Bob) and Bruce Piper (Bindi2 here on the forum) came down from Geraldton Greenough RC with his 308 to round out the Trio.

All in all a great days shooting with some great people. Thanks to the City of Subiaco RC for putting on a good day with great food as well!!!!

Sorry if I got any of the results wrong!!!!

Nice wrap up. And well done on your efforts. You two are flying the flag nicely for the club!

I know this isn't quite the right place… but what happened in the TR? Any of our guys mix it with the hot shots?

I dont think so mate, I think Danny Kuffer was the the only TR shooter from our club. Dave A and Dave L were the other to FS shooters. I was hoping to see a few more people there but the heat kept them away I think.

PS, just need to get some club shirts so we can show our colours more often!!!!

Good write up Shaun but a bit of an understatement about the heat. You make light of the + - 2 or more lines during the easterlys matches and i didnt pick the 5 lines needed to get on the target at 900 so had a miss with A sighter a real miss.( shooter error only had 2 lines on) finished with a 5 @ 2 oclock with between 6 & 7 lines on may be more as i was happy with my 59.2 i didnt look. Congrats to you and Bob pity about Brett having to use his rat gun.
Thanks Subi for a well run shoot and allowing F/O will be back.
Heard a rumour that new 7 was shooting almost one hole groups fire forming brass with round nose projectiles @ 100. Uncle Bob might be in for a jolt.

Was for sure one of the best run prize meets I have shot for a while !!! The Heat and very switchy conditions made it a challenge to shoot and there was few who got through the whole day without a Trainwreck!!! I would have liked to shoot open but after only finding out the afternoon before that they were shooting open , I had no time to prepare so it was FS for me !!The 3 ranges in the morning were brutal if you missed the switch and the scores showed it !! by lunch it was a stinking 38 DEG , Dusty, flies crawling in every orifice and a lot of Miserable faces :x An excellent lunch was put on by Subiaco and coupled with some light humour and fellow sledging our spirits were lifted and we went out tackle to Longs.. At 800 The wind had dropped a bit but was switching from easterly to Northerly and back very quickly so you had to be quick on the trigger at the right time !! The scores started to show it with low to mid 50"s being the norm and with the wind moving around to a NW Frontal it was going to be a tough one. I don"t know how but I managed to walk off the mound with a 60.6 with my little 223( Rat Gun) to take the Range even beating my Fellow open shooters who I normally shoot with  !!! 900 proved no easier than 800 but the Open boys true to form all shot Lights out scores for the conditions and put me back in my place as I could only manage a 56.2 with the Rat Gun , But it was good enough for me to take the F Standard AGG one point ahead of Ray Hurley who had shot so consistent all day!!!! With the shooting over everyone headed for the comfort of the air conditioned Bar and a well earned drink and some more light sledging and humour :D All in all it was a great shoot and look forward to doing it again next year...
