congratulations to Stewart, Mike, John Cranwell and Gail on their wins!
I think you would be hard pressed to find a group of people that have such a strong sense of sportsmanship and desire to assist new shooters and f class in general. all had to work hard for their deserved placing's.
Despite the flies, wind, dust, rocks, and sticks I only enjoyed myself because of the positive vibe across the mound with all shooters. particularly the SA F open guys competing against each other while still sharing knowledge this can only help build the quality and depth of shooters in the state.
on a personal note with a rifle that I didn't think was close to being up to standard I took it as an opportunity to try some techniques that I hadn't had the guts to do in the past. after 2 days the gun wasn't hammering X's but the techniques were working and in the rough conditions wind calls were earning more points than another .3MOA accuracy!
UNFORTUNATLY it all died in the ass at the 800m with a fairly nasty patch and the lack of a contingency plan resulting in a 52. backing it up with a 53 at the second 800m wasn't going to cut it and stew took the win with a quality shoot through heavy mirage proving experience and a cool head is what brings home the silverware.
well done to a couple of newish shooters brendon lange 3rd and simon plush showing strong potential. unfortunately I didn't get much time to chat (as we seemed to always be at opposite ends of the range!!) but I look forward to seeing them out and giving us a run for or money in the near future.

wow this year can’t get much better Laughing Laughing
No it can't stew
You and I share the same accolades which is pretty cool bro.

Congratulations to all the winners
Great shooting Mikey the WFC experience have now elevated you to a whole new level.
And you showed a few FO shooters how to read the wind
Well done also to Mike Punti and Alan Seaman great shooting.
And a special mention to G-Train who worked up a load on the Thursday lead up he just went from strength to strength Bryan stick with it.
We will tweak that load and see if you can't give Mikey a touch up.
Adam shot very well against a top field of FO shooters and was unlucky not come home with the No1 Badge if he had not built a handy lead the results may have be less.
Special mention for Simon and Brendan with little or no Queens Event experience you both did very well.
Pete Carter had a rough trot with smashed rest from freighting it from FAR Nth Q and had a equipment fail on him and was unable to finish the last 800m
he declined several offers of other competitors equipment as we pefer that everone finishes some how.
The FS event was neck and neck great to see it so close congratulations to the FCASA President John Cranwell on the win and Greeny you were so close
You could smell the felt. And of coarse Malcolm in the middle.
Ian may have to go back to the drawing board on the GC not quite sorted yet.
I'm sure we will see the howitzer on the line again soon.
We were all certainly taking an interest in it and was disappointed not to see it at the 800m line were it could really hit its straps.
A very well run event over 3 days with very challenging conditions at times stacks of prizes thank you to our generous sponsors and SARA.

because the event is never over
until the last range"

Thanks very much for the kind words from everybody.
and congratulations to Stuart, Mike and Gail !
My first State Championship Win ! I can hardly believe it.
It was great to be on the podium with Chris and Malcolm - really great shooting Mates.
Malcolm is a legend down here, and to better his score is a reward in itself .
I have always been intimidated at Lower Light, but this weekend I felt a lot more comfortable - hopefully this is a permanent condition !
Unlike Adam, I saw Simon Plush shoot every range, because I scored for him - and he really did some impressive shooting.
The camaraderie between all the shooters was great.
It was great to see Peter Carter, and my old club mate Trevor Deed down from Cairns.
A high light for me was watching 12 year old Jayden, he set his own rifle up at every range, scope settings, read all his own weather, and ..............
when he was walking up to the podium to receive his encouragement award, took a detour to shake Geoff Grenfells hand !
A big thankyou for all the Sponsors, particularly NIOA, for their generous sponsorship of the F/TR Savage Cup, and Kreiger Barrels for my new barrel !

Congratulations to John, Gail,Stuart and Mike on your Queen's wins. It was a very challenging event for all of the three days with every shooter copping a taste of what Lower Light can dish up. Weather was fairly changeable right through with just the odd patch which stayed steady long enough for a few shooters to get a round through if they were quick and end up with a reasonable score. I think it would be a long time (if ever) that not a single 60 showed up by a standard shooter during a Queens. As has been mentioned the F std. A grade win came down to the last range with three South Aussies in the lead separated by just one point. After a bit of a rearrangement in the order John took the win, but we were all happy to still be in the top three and keep the interstater's off the podium. To Gail well done in B grade, your score would have put you up with the top A grader's. To Stuart, a great win which only adds to your already outstanding year. To Mike all the hard work you have put in over the year to get to the world championships and do so well has culminated in a Queens win in FTR. I can't recall anyone being so happy and elated to take out a win (but watch out for big Mick next year). Holding that Savage FTR rifle jubilantly in the air certainly drew some comment from a few fullbore shooters in the room who couldn't believe that a new rifle was up for grabs for the winner. Just shows what can be done when our F Class association top brass in conjunction with generous sponsors show the rest of Australia how it's done. Thanks to all the shooters that turned up, there was some great shooting and great times had over the Queens. Hope to see you all back next year.
Regards Malcolm.
Regards Malcolm.
Wow, another Queens has been shot and I was lucky enough to participate in it! It had a bit of everything, strong winds cancelling a range on the first day to swarms of flies that surrounded the shooters on the mounds.
The best part of course was the close competition across the range of f-classes and the F-Standard final range with 3 shooters separated by a single point was the show stopper!
Congrats to the worthy winners and all the competitors that made it such a great event!
Just a few months ago I set myself the goal of being fit enough to compete in this event and am happy to report that I made it through and enjoyed it. I caught up with Jenni (Range Mum) and got the chance to see how she shoots and can now understand how she intimidated the poms over in Raton
This range really humbled me for the first 2 days and has made me re-think how I shoot the canon. So its back to re-learning recoil management for me and hopefully improving for next year when it comes around again.

Congrats to Stu, J.C, Mike & Gail on their wins.
Was a great comp that tested us all along the way, and bought out any failings in equipment, loads or technique and ability.
Well done to Brendan & Simon who shot some excellent ranges.
I can't claim credit for forwarding on the results each day, I delegated that duty to Simon who did a masterful job at it.
Thanks also to Ecomeat for posting them each day to keep everyone up to speed with the happenings.
Thanks to the sponsors who put up some excellent booty for grabs.

Congratulations to Stuart, Mike, John and Gail on their victorious Queens campaigns
. Well done also to everyone else who braved the wind at The House of Pain. It was great to see the new F Open lads getting amongst it all and strutting their stuff. They certainly showed that they will be forces to be reckoned with in the future.
