I found that the prescription polarised lenses I wore to cut glare when shooting TR went a long way towards cutting mirage through a scope, but why the dickens do you want to lose the capability of seeing mirage changes?

John
Did it cut it out completely or reduce it ??
Richard
I've never thought about before, but I actually read the March instructions and it mentions filters, thought I'd ask.

Matt,

Reduced it, but in my case, to a level where I was more likely to not notice when it changed, particularly in those tun, boil, run conditions that happen about this time of year when it cools down.

There were only two lenses available when I set myself up both with fairly high polarising values. It seems that degree of polarisation in optical lenses is proportional to the degree of colour - ther darker, the more power to the effect. Stateside, they have lenses of significantly lower polarisation, but my tame optomotrist couldn't source them. It seems that Aussie lens grinders (polarised lenses don't come preprofiled because of the lower consumption) weren't interested.

It's easy enough to try for youself. Grab a cheap chemist shop or Crazy whoever set of polarised sunnies & try them out.

Matt

I noticed the objective lense on the March is 52mm, i have 52mm polarised lens for my nikon slr which are 52mm and the screw in, being the march is made by a japanese company my bet would be that the lense covers would screw straight in.

worth a shot
