Alright this forum is ridiculous.
Why on Earth would a bot post this? What purpose would there be?

Just worked out who you are. This is Peter who did the meet-and-greet with you on Saturday at Geelong. Sorry if there was any confusion but I thought you were just testing out your rifle at the longer distances. Rest assured that we have some very serious Sporter shooters who will very quickly tell you if you are operating outside the rules. On practice days like last Saturday we only insist on the safety rules and allow members to experiment. So I didn't care if your bag had ears but don't try it on a competition day.
If you have questions about the rules and about what is allowed or not allowed just ask. I know a little bit about them.
We were a bit short-handed last Saturday as we had a lot of members shooting elsewhere and a family of four for a come-and-try so again I apologize if you we weren't around to help.
I am also sorry about how you have been treated on this forum. Some people see conspiracies around every corner. I won't be there Saturday after next but please come back and ask all the questions you want. Don't let this experience turn you off NRAA shooting. We have a great club.
PS That bottle of drink is on me.
To all the naysayers, we shot 300m,500m,600m,700m on Saturday all at once and from the one firing point. Geez, its hard enough to attract new members without keyboard warriors sending them away.

Well Peter, then you would be wrong.
I don't accept your "keyboard warrior" assessment, as I'm not hiding behind a pseudonym and if not via keyboard, then how is communication done here.
To Tsv900, I got it wrong and I apologise.

Hey Peter
On Saturday you made me feel very welcome and you were a huge help! I was also very impressed with your target rifle shooting and actually had it in mind to ask you more about it and the sights you were using next time I see you there as I'd never seen anything like them. David has also encouraged me to have a go with the club target rifle at some stage.
I am indeed testing out my rifle at longer ranges with the intention of competing at the next available competition. I will absolutely be there again on the 16th and as often as possible going forward! It's by far the best range I've been to and everyone there made me feel welcome and I felt like I had plenty of help.
It was more that after I left the shoot I looked at the NRAA rules and got a little confused as they differ and I wasn't sure how standardized they were. I wasn't sure how much it was going to vary from club to club so I thought I'd post here. In hindsight I should've just waited until the next shoot! However it's also not something I need to worry about right now.
With that, the fact that I don't have to modify my rifle at all to compete without being a disadvantage is a huge relief, with a single feed ramp being the only thing I'll need to purchase. This means I can focus on practicing and improving my own shooting relative to the capabilities of my rifle and not have to worry about modifications. I'll of course get a rear earless squeeze bag as well sooner rather than later so that I can get a feel for it before the shoot.
Is there any that you or anyone here would recommend?
Rest assured I'm very excited to continue on with NRAA shooting and the experience I had with the people at the actual club was very pleasant. Again, you were very helpful and I appreciate your time.
I'll definitely shoot some full 10 round scoring shots at the next shoot to get an idea of where I'm at and I'm looking forward to entering into the next available competition, with plenty of opportunity to practice between now and then.
Careful though Pete, they'll probably think you're a bot coming to aid the first bot!
Thanks again

Yeah I'm definitely going to see how the glass is at 800 and 900m first. And yeah I was thinking along the same lines, I'll look through some other scopes. I did extensive research when I purchased the Athlon and at the time it was about the best value to quality scope for under $1000. We'll see how it goes. Some of ZeroTech's offerings seem quite good too so that's a potential option.
Cheers,

If you're looking for a good scope for the range for about $1k it would be hard to go past a 2nd hand Nightforce BR 8-32x56.....if you can find one. Just dial it back to 25x for Sporter Hunter and you're right to go.
