284 WINCHESTER and 180 Sierra Match King

Post by BD28 »

Anyone used this combo?

What twist rate will suffice for the 180 match king? I am hoping 1/9 will do it?

Yes, I have used 180 Sierras in my 9" 284 barrels and they worked very well, nice and consistent even in cool weather, so 9" twist will be fine for where you are. The newer, longer 183s though certainly do need faster twist than 9".
I ended up around 0.010" to 0.015" jump, but they seemed to be fairly tolerant and accuracy did not go off too badly when the throat moved out to about 0.025" jump.
