ADI 223 BRASS

Post by pgcpty »

FWIW Ive been using ADI 223 Brass for my 223REM FS reloads with great results for the past 3 years having previously used Lapua.
The ADI case volume consistency from batch to batch is excellent averaging 31 grains of water +/- 0.5% and I've had my share of double possibles using them.
Anybody else with similar findings?

I have 200 pieces of Lapua brass and 100 ADI cases here.

I measured the H2o capacity of both brands using 6 of each and came to 31.25gn for the ADI and 30.86 for the Lapua.
I've long since thrown out the notes with the individual weights but i think i recall that the SD for the ADI was a little bit lower (and therefore the ADI is more consistent) and i was kind of bummed about that after spending so much on Lapua. I came to the conclusion that in .223 at least there is no real benefit for Lapua brass. I've had excellent results with Lapua in many other calibers and will continue to use it there but i don't think i'll buy any more in .223 when the ADI is just as good.

While I have not used a 223 myself, I have assisted two shooters with their 223s. Both of them had tried Lapua and ADI and both eventually stuck with ADI. They could get higher velocities with the ADI cases over Lapua in both cases and the one who checked ES/SD got better ES/SD with ADI.
