Thankyou everyone for the kind comments. I obviously had a great time and got to meet a few great characters as you do at every queens. Cheers to Terry Sheedy and Paul Janzso - a couple of true gentlemen always happy and cheerful and great company.
Congratulations to Jim Bailey and Jim Blomfield for their excellent wins.
I honestly went into this queens without a whole lot of expectations after putting some gear aside for Raton (and left at home so I wouldn't be tempted!
) but delved into the cupboard for an old reliable barrel. It only took the first few shots of the Marian OPM for me to realize things were much better than anticipated.
Despite cyclone threats, rain and huge winds forecast things turned out pretty well with the people in charge of the weather really turning it on for us. We had a predominant fishtailing wind up the tailpipe for most of the meet that meant centerlines had to be spot on. Flags often confused with each other and the mirage.
First range of the Stevens Griffiths (600 yards) was a treat. Very light conditions held for all shooters so we all got to test the accuracy of the gear - just being careful for a few slight twitches. This was a great hit out and great confidence builder. Also great to see Dave Stewart had now fireformed all his brass and had his loads working really well. - He has been the man to chase up here last year. - Right from the outset it was obvious this was going to be a great competition. Marty was running in a new barrel for the leadup but we knew he was going to be a danger when he switched back. Peter Smith is always present and dangerous having taken out well more than his share of these events over the years. This year the whole pack was up there - confidence is starting to build going into FCWC as we can see the standards lifting right around the country..........

Well said Dave and thank you for the report on the NQ Queens. Congrats again on your performance and like you said the placings were close, which is the way we want it to be.
This is a great confidence booster going into the FCWC. Even for us who could not make it, the work being put in is showing rewards. Alan's result at Bendigo is another example.
