Be that as it may I'm looking for written wisdom, so if you have any classics gathering dust I would be delighted to convert them...

i can recommend the book by bill hambly-clark.
it removes the mysticism that has crept into rifle shooting, explaining how rifle accuracy works in simple terms.

Bill's book is very good , much easier to read than Litz's for me anyway, I have also found Rifle Accuracy Facts by Vaughn very good, The Gunsmith Machinist by Acker 1 more so than 2, Reloading for Competition by Zediker, The Benchrest Shooting Primer, Nathan Foster's Practical series has some good Information.
There's more but that's the highlights for me, sorry their not for sale but might give you some shopping ideas

i have found some of fosters suggestions re annealing projectiles and bedding a little left of center,
but you have to digest stuff and work out what to spit out again.

I think most authors require some filtering, due to their personal prejudices which may have started early and not been re-examined, we’re all guilty of it to some degree I believe Nathan to be ridgy didge in his field but remember he is hunting, not shooting long strings, 3 shot groups only

Yes maybe but all the Nathan Fosters of the gun writing world have grown thier own reputations. That may sound negative but that's the ultimate value of comp shooting : when the flag drops the BS stops ...

Sooooo many keyboard shooters the world over are somehow shooting tiny groups across 4 beanfields .....

But I wanna doit every time or it doesn’t count, aggregates are very sobering
