I run 2 6mmBR,s both unturned cases, different reamers, both standard 6mB.R. Norma Lapua brass. 1reamer by Kiff, the other by Hendrickson.
Iuse a .268"bush,CCI450 primers,Berger 105gn.VLD bullets loaded HARD into the lands. 29.5 gn. 2208. I rechamber every 1500 rounds, after the barrels are shorter than 25" I don,t use them past 800yds. Barrels are Trueflite for 6BR and Kriger for .243AI

Chris,
Your long-range shooting with the 6mmBR is somewhat of an enigma. You had some great shoots at the longs at the QRA Queens, and won all the 900s, BUT it was actually the longs that brought you undone - if you had got decent scores at the 800 and 1000, you would have won the Queens!
So my question is, why the huge performance variations? My suspicion is that if you get a good patch at the longs with the 6mmBR, it will shoot as good or better than anything, but if you get a bad patch it will shoot all over the place, including vertical. But you're the best one to answer that!
My next question is, will you be at Canberra? And if so, what will you use at the longs ?
Alan

Richard,
Actually, if you look at the longs in the SA Queens, it does make good reading for the 6.5s of Bruce and myself. However, if you take into account Marty's 10-0-10 mystery at the last 800, and your cleaning problems at both 800s, we might have been a little fortunate! All the same, while I'm intending to try a 7mm soon, I think the 6.5x284 is very hard to beat as an all-rounder. I think it is unfairly criticised for being a barrel burner and hard to tune. I am still using some barrels at 1800 rounds, and find that if you take good care of brass etc., then the fliers can be eliminated.

I was talking with someone yesterday at the Maintland OPM who uses a 6.5-284. The barrel is on 2600 at the mo, and has had one rechamber.
The rifle/barrel is Ben's old Barnard/barrel blocked rig and still shoots very tight.
Thought that may be interesting to post.
Tony.

How many extra shots do people typically get from a 6.5 rechamber ?
I am using one at the moment which now has 500 through it. Before rechambering, a bit over 2000 which may heve been excessive. Its not a 284 - a bit smaller.
The cut one - its shooting well but maybe I am just seeing a slight falloff.
