There is an old saying, "Never nurse a mug, they will die in your arms."

another technique used by the old dead guys for accuracy is called breech seating.
the big problem with 2209 in the 308 case is that it is too slow to fit enough in the case.
some of that case capacity is wasted on being filled with a projectile.
a throat that will allow the bullet to be held in its entirety outside the case is required.
then a breech seating tool can seat the bullet.
then a case full of powder is chambered.
tuning is carried out by adjusting the airgap between the bullet base and the powder.
of course powder burning rate would be a consideration. the slower the powder the more you would need.
somewhat faster than muzzle loading, breech seating could be no disadvantage with slow manual markers.
all jokes aside both breech seating and muzzle loading were practised by creedmoor shooters up until 1912, and by scheutzen shooters like harry pope, and still done today.
keep safe,
bruce.
