6.5 PRC

#1 Postby Tim N » Tue Oct 24, 2017 6:28 am

This popped up on accurate shooter, the 6.5 creedmoore of the magnum bolt face?
Looks to be just a little different from the 6.5 saum
Should be a good one for the gunsmiths fitting new barrels :)

The 6.5mm caliber is hot and heavy here for the last two years! First caliber I've seen in almost 20 years actually exceed orders/demand over .30cal. which is typically the most popular caliber.

We've already made ammunition pressure test barrels for the 6.5PRC as well. One of the guys in the shop has already built a rifle in it as well about two months ago. Was able to get brass but had to handload the ammo. Box ammo just became available a few days ago here.

Hi Frank,
If you have time to post some info on this round would be great.
Possibly it will become another 7mm variant for F Open if there is good brass available.

I agree Tim. Capacity seems to be very similar to the 284, but with full magnum bolt-face, longer neck and shorter powder column. If necked up to 7mm, should have ballistics ideal for Australian energy limits.

The only question is brass quality and availability.
