Bullet stabalization

#1 Postby Peterla » Fri Mar 03, 2017 6:23 am

Hi all,

I am just about to get a tuner fitted to my 7mm open rifle.
I am going to do some initial tuning at the shorts 100-300 yards to get an Idea where my tune node is then move back to the longs and fine tune at that range
My question is if 1 do this close testing at 100 yards has a 7mm hybrid bullet stabilized yet or would I be better at doing it at 300 yards. I would like to do it at 100 yards as its easy to see my groups. I can do this at 300 yards too but 100 Yards is much easier to see the groups.
Any thoughts on how quick a boat tail bullet stabilizes would help me select the right range to start my development.
Thanks
Peter

I have been playing with load tuning at 25m. Whilst there is no doubt there is further stabilisation going on after this you can tell when you are in a good area. By 100m the effect is minimal and ignore it

Thanks Dave. I will try at maybe 100 or 200 and see how I go.
