I have been playing with a barrel and haven't been getting much love with my usual tricks so I decided to try some 2209. A great powder which I don't use much of nowadays with my 6.5x47 barrels gathering dust.
Out of interest I loaded up a little ladder starting at 56.1. Which STARTED at 3000fps. . . . Going up to 56.9 I stopped when the chronograph was reading 3035fps.
This seems to be about 50-70fps faster than I was expecting and I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the 5273 batch of 2209 and if it may be faster than others?

Re: 2209 batch 5273 in 7saum
I have just got a Saum up and running and have found 55.4 of 2209 was giving me a nice group running at 2940.
This was 180 VLD in a 32 inch barrel.(I have been told this is a fast barrel).
Its not the same batch as yours.
I found the groups better around 2940 to be better than higher f/s, I did run up to 3050.
I would suggest starting around 55 and working up.

This maybe of no help but with lot 5529 I get in my Bartlein barrel 2945 on 56.2 with 180 VLD's and in my Brux I get 2920 with the same powder charge and Hybrids.

yeah I think my powder batch might be fairly close to yours in burning rate.
Matt my batch is 55-80fps faster than yours!! That's huge! It's interesting that this barrel is also slightly slower with other known powders.

FWIW, I too use Batch 5529 in 2209 and are getting (within 200 rounds from new so should be speeding up a bit)
ave 2900 for 55.8gn
ave 2913 for 56.2gn
ave 2924 56.5gn
These are for 180gn Hybrids in a 32" Bartlein 1:9
