Re: Bertram .284 Brass
Anyone able to give us an indication of price? Almost makes me want to take my .284W barrels off the market. Especially if the brass/primer pockets could handle pushing 180's at the 2820fps mark.

Steve if they take hotter loads in a 32 inch barrel you may want to reconsider twist rate for the Shehane. Denis, they might travel a bit faster than that. Norm what is the weight of these cases compared to Lapua? How many firings of the same case have you had without distortion? Great to get an Aussie producer. Great work Norm.

Re: Bertram .284 Brass
A full production run has been made.
I make no claims about its quality/durability etc. I will leave that for others to comment on.
Some samples will be handed out this weekend to local shooters and we should get some feedback from those shooters in due time.
What I suggest is that forum members simply order a small amount of brass and run their own tests to evaluate if it is suitable for their needs.
I was at the factory yesterday and brought home enough .284 brass for my own use. From the testing that I have done over the last two weeks, I am satisfied that it will meet my needs.
This cartridge factory employs a dozen or so local Aussies in a high unemployment rural area. Bertram's is selling this brass for $1.50 each + Postage. So well worth trying for a number of reasons.
I encourage you to report your findings to forum members in this thread.

I did buy some .375/2½ off them some years back (http://www.kynochammunition.co.uk/375%202.5.html ). They're known for manufacturing obsolete brass for a price.

Hello Norm,
Could you get some for me to experiment with? I assume we will see you Sunday at Practice.

Geoff I will give some samples to Mike to give to you on Sunday.
Super V.......... They make a whole range of modern stuff as well but mostly hard to get stuff. Give them a ring if you have something in mind.

Re: Bertram .284 Brass
My first batch arrived today! Haven't done anything with it yet except take a couple of measurements and check it goes into the chamber.
Weighs around 15gn more than Lapua and 10gn more than Winchester 284 brass so it should be solid. Neck thickness comes to just under .315 with a Berger 180 vld seated so a little skim may be required for my .318 no turn chamber neck.
Great to see two little kangaroos stamped into the case head!

Has anybody measured the water capacity (volume) of these case yet ,I class my class by volume rather than case weight, and would like to know how consistent there volume is .

Footsore did a comparison today. It gave some surprising results.
With some luck he may share his findings.
