F-TR build

#1 Postby G.COSTA » Sun Sep 13, 2015 7:10 am

Hi Guys and Gals

I'm building up a F-TR rifle and have a few little load questions!
I have my Bartlin 1:10 32" barrel, AR2208, shiny new Lapua cases, CCI 200 primers... so now...
Projectiles!!
I'm leaning towards the 185 jugs and 200 hyb... How have people been finding these?? I have looked at the 210 and 215 but don't know if bigger is better (extra recoil vs wind deflect)..
Also what kind of speeds should I be aiming for to be stable at 1000yds?

The only other question is the primers..CCI-200 or the CCI-250? some things I read the 250 are the same just thicker cup to take more pressure then some things say they are 30% hotter!!

Now, I'm not asking for what should my load be and I know everything is different between rifles but just scoping out what others are experiencing :)

Thanks
George

Hi George
We had one of our Barrels 32 inch 1in 10 twist set up to shoot 155.5 and 185 and it works verry well.
The main reason behind this was the Avalibility of 155.5 so we can blasé away and not start to worry about the challenge of replacing them. If we were using the 185 Jugs and using them at the rate we do thay can be a little hard to find at times but Hopfully this will get better.. But as for recoil our 208 and 210 are more pleasant to shoot than our 185.
Thanks Michael H

Thanks for your reply Michael
That's another reason I was going for the 185's so that the chamber still works for the 155.5 that I can tune up for when qstore is in short supply of the jugs and if it's a calm day or shorter range there is no use throwing big busters down range.
Can you remember what freebore your reamer had? And did it work with the 155.5 all the way to the 210 projectiles or different barrel for the 200+
Thanks
George

Hi George
We run different barrels for the 200s /208 / 210. I don't know if you can ( successfully ) run 155.5 and 210 in the same barrel it might be a bit of a stretch but we don't . I couldn't tell you what Reamer was used I leave all the Magic up to the Armourer over my head :).
But it dose shoot very well out to 1000y with the 155.5 ..we can blasé away with a projectile that is ATM in plentiful supply..
Thanks Michael H

Haha yeah Michael I thought it may be a long shot knowing the chamber but I may just make up a couple of dummy rounds and give them to my smith and let him do what he does best!
Thanks
George
