No, my ES usually are under 15 with most single digit. I weigh sort the brass, neck turn them, anneal them every time. I weigh the charges to 1 kernel of powder. You can give a 6mmBR a very good run for their money with these loads to 500 meters. It is after that that funny things happen. Normally I test using the 210 VLD to compare against so I shoot 1/2 match with one and 1/2 with the other and compare. It is the easiest to say I am having the "same" wind conditions.
Thanks

Re: Best/Biggest 30 cal
Hi guys,
I shoot f standard byt got my hands on a cheap brand new magnum bolt for my barnard. I have always been really interested in the 300wsm as a caliber, but after reading through the threads about energy restrictions I still can't seem to find a definite answer on whether I would be able to shoot it in f-open. I shoot only in victoria at the moment but iam worried if I spend the money on a reamer and dies etc for the long 215-230gr projectiles whether it will become redundant and I won't be able to compete with it.

Re: Best/Biggest 30 cal
I should add that my intention is not to run very hot loads, I just like the idea of the potential longer barrel life of the 30cal pushing the higher bcs a bit slower rather than running a hot 7mm

Re: Best/Biggest 30 cal
I have been running lower pressure loads in my 300 SAUM using 210 VLD's and my barrel life has been exceeding 2200 (this is the longest barrel life I have run simply because I prefer to pull them sooner). The other advantage is that I have never had a fussy rifle or loads and never had to worry about heat in the summer.

Re: Best/Biggest 30 cal
Hi dummos
Iv been using the 300WSM for many years and I find the VLD Bergers to be a fine easy to tune projectile.
I have a load for the 190 gn for the shorter distances and a load for the 210gn for all ranges.
I had a bash with the 300 Win Mag trying the hybrid projectles. What seemed to work well at 500 yards failed miserably at the longer ranges. This failure has been explained to me in detail but I won't go into it as it is long winded. But I did have great success with the Win Mag and 210gn VLDs, recoil was lighter as well as great accuracy.
I really like the WSM Case, barrel life around 1,800 and easy to tune.
Cheers
Paul

Re: Best/Biggest 30 cal
Dragging out an old thread here.
The last time I looked at the Berger website was during the discussions of this thread as I have a Berger manual that I still refer to when I have spec queries.
It's interesting to see that for the .30cal 215gn and 230gn Hybrids the website now specifies a 9 twist. I'm not sure when they changed the spec from 10 twist.
I know Brian started using a 9T in his FTR rig quite a while ago.
Also, for the 180gn 7mm Hybrids and VLDs they specify an 8 twist where I'm certain that use to be 9T.
In 6mm, the 105VLD is still specified at 8T. I'm sure the 105 Hybrid was also spec'd at 8T but is now 7T.
Reflecting on the comments that many people have made over the years about the perceived behaviour of Hybrids with various setups, I'm thinking that the specification changes justify many of those comments.

Good pick up Dennis. I have not done the checks with the ballistic programs recently, but the practical data must be in to suggest their modelling has been tweaked.
