It seems that there is a lot of hype around the 6.5x47 cartridge lately. It seems that there are a lot of target shooters out there getting them - myself included.
It is strange given that the 6.5x47 was designed specifically for 300yd benchrest - now there are a ton of people buying them for all sorts of target shooting - F-Class, 500Fly, benchrest, long-range tactical...
Is it all hype, or is it really that good? What is it about this cartridge that people are going nuts over? I know why I got one, but I am interested to hear other opinions...

I have the 6mm version. Gives better ballistics I think but has shorter barrel life. I reckon they both make a great shorts round. Beyond gives up a bit to 7mm and 30cal but can hold there own if a good driver. I just hope in good enough for my 6x47L.
