What's the max range of a 6mm BR

#1 Postby Norm » Mon May 28, 2012 4:35 pm

I am thinking of trying the 6mmBR cartridge out to 1200 yards and would like to know if anyone has tried it?
If so what projectile would be best considering that it might have gone sub-sonic at that range.

Norm,

Stu Mowat shot one in the F Class division of the Queensland Match Rifle championship around 5 years back. He had the championship by the throat until he ran into elevation issues at the last distance.

Heck, if Alan Seaman can squeeze his .223 out to 1200, you should walk it in with good 6BR projectiles & loads.

That's interesting.
Be fun to give it a go if the wind was not too strong.
I have been using 105gn Berger VLD's, do you think that they would be ok?

Hi Norm,
I shot in the Vic Match Rifle champ's last year, and a guy next to me was using a 6BR all the way to 1200 with no problems, I think he shot a 100 out of 120 and the best on range for the condition's was 104 .
Go the BR's
