I've just primed some Lapua .308 cases with Fed GM Match primers and they were the tightest fit I've ever had. Is this normal, these primers were a little tight in Winchester cases. I'm going to load up some with 2206H & 2208, think the 06 might be better as it's a Savage with a 24" barrel. Will start off with the bullet touching and back off 10 thou a time. What primers are most of you using?

The savage palma barrel is a bit light for F Class. I eventually got my best results with 44.5gr 2208 and 2.78COAL, nosler155gr, owing to the very short chamber. This gave good results, although i did fit a barrel tuner.
My new barrel is much heavier, a shilen heavy varmint match+bedding job. I use 45.5 gr 2208 and 2.845 COAL, nosler or sierra2156 . This gives even better results, and more importantly the groups open up less when the load is not 'in tune'
I know these are not hot loads but thats what worked best for me. The savage is a great rifle now, with the new barrel. I love the stock and action, although i suppose the barnards are bedded better.
