Secondary Explosive Effect.

#1 Postby Tony Q » Mon Sep 12, 2005 8:48 pm

Just had a report from one of my other clubs in regard to an accident, a pistol shooters revolver cylinder exploded due to what is now thought to be an undercharged case (44 Mag) causing the powder to detonate rather than a controlled burn... 'Secondary Explosive Effect'

In my experience most pistol cartages are only around 20-30% full???, but it does emphasize the care you need to take in reloading ‘explosives’ and always be aware of the potential ramifications that can come with negligence. (under loading or over loading)

This poor chap is now in the Royal Adelaide for a few days suffering ‘shrapnel wounds’ to the knee (He was shooting Creedmoor Style in Metallic Silhouette)

Could have been worse!
MBRC F-Class standard ... and proud of it!
