School me on Central Bisley Sight Adjustments

#1 Postby SPRINT-GTO » Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:59 pm

Just inherited a Central Bisley sight that is in good condition & have purchased a 303 rifle to fit it too.
However I know nothing about the Central sight adjustments & would appreciate some advice.
Windage
Do you turn the windage knob clockwise to move shot to the right & Anticlockwise to move shot down as you do with Parker Hale Sights ?.

Elevation
Similarly do you turn elevation knob clockwise to move shot up & Anticlockwise to move down.

I am familiar with FORS (Front opposite Rear same) but would appreciate some confirmation on adjustment whilst I await my rifle to arrive.
Looking forward to setting this sight up on rifle.
Hope this question not to silly.
Thanks

Hi,

You have hit the nail on the head.
Central sights all use "Service" adjustments, clockwise is up on your elevation knob and right on your wind knob. If you have a low left shot you adjust up by winding the elevation knob clockwise and right by winding the wind knob clockwise.

These are usually set in 1/2 MoA clicks though it may have been modified to 1/4 MoA.

Watch out for how you mount the Bisley model, as the clamp slot is vertical, it is possible to clamp the sight one or even 2 serrations high which will mess up your elevation.
Make sure you set it down against the lever lock to prevent this problem.

The Central No4 has a horizontal slot instead.

If you want to do any work on your 303, feel free to send me a PM as our workshop specialises in re-barrelling as well as bedding and refinishing them.

Enjoy setting it up and shooting it.

Cheers!

if you ring SIA they can school you on what sight you have.
a 303 sight will only be good on a 303 [if you use the indicator panel for height and windage
if its a 762 sight it wont be much chop for 303.
then there is the dials,i have one with 1/4 windage and 1/2 elevation.
i have another that is 1/3 on both, and another that is 1/4 on both.
all depends what you have .
