300 WSM loads

#1 Postby macguru » Mon Aug 06, 2018 10:51 pm

Hi, I am running in a 300WSM, 230 bergers, long throat = 3.200" coal. 9 twist. (for NSW use)

I was wondering whether anyone can share some load information ?

2213 only at this stage. 65-66gr according to quickload i should get 2800 ish from a 30" barrel. And you can go up another grain or so .....

To answer my own question, absolutely no pressure signs at all with a node in the 66s. so i will try low 66s at 800m on saturday. recoil is stout in a 7.5 kg rifle, noticeably more than the saum at these velocities (assuming around 2800, no chrono).

Andrew, that is the million dollar Question? How much bc advantage at the cost of recoil can shooters handle? I know in my rifle 3015 FPS with 180’s is right on my limit , to shoot consistently ( well hopefully lol!) .

That is when does it start to become a disadvantage?

I was just interested in getting some load data, not discussing the philosophy. I was concerned that quickload may not be accurate enough but it seems in this case it was spot on....

That would be "stout" in a 7.5kg rifle. Do you intend to add some weight? I am playing with 215s in a 300WSM, but it weighs 35kg.
