Hi Folks,
I'm about to start load development for a new SAUM and I only have a limited supply of 180vlds left. I notice the q store has 180 hunting vlds in stock. My understanding is that they are the same bullet, but one has a j3 jacket, the other has a j4.
Question - can I develop a load with the match vlds and then interchange with hunting vlds, or should I be looking at another bullet that doesn't have the same supply issues?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex , they are the same bullet and like usual, just batch them in length, base to metplate and then base to ogive! Just still the same accuracy.
Regards Graham.

As you would do with any different batches of bullets, it would still be an idea to just run 5 of each over a chronograph so you can keep your same speed. Even with the exact same bullets, just different batch numbers, the velocities can change, sometimes enough to move you out of the node.

I only use hunting 180vld’s in my 284, I quite like them.
I think the only difference in BC between hunting and target VLD’s is the 6mm 105gr with the hunting actually having the higher BC.

The hunting and VLD 180's are different, the hunting are shorter hence the lower BC and the lead core goes further to the tip to make up the length difference also the jacket on the targets are thicker. This seems to be only for the 180 7mm as most others just have a different jacket.
