Hello.

The answer to the mystery (if there was one) of the NRAA bid is to be found in the Minutes of the 2005 Meeting of the F Class Committee. Go to the ICFRA Home Page, select "Minutes", then "2005 F-Class Committee".

The voting for 2013, including 5 proxies (which must have included Australia as we did not have a Representative at the Meeting), was
Australia - 2
Canada - 2
Great Britain - 5.

There was a submission from the USA.
"The USA would have considered the NRAA bid more favourably had it not stated the FCWC would be fired prior to the Australian National Individual Championships. We do not consider this proper. The USA believes a World Championships should hold precedent over a national championship. We also believe major matches such as an FCWC require warm up matches to provide necessary practice time for out of country competitors." All present agreed.

No bid 2009.
No bid 2013.
No bid 2017.

Regards,
John T.

dutton's comment re farmer refugees from south africa might be relevent here.
2 injured per day and 2 killed per week apparently.
and this is the sort of thing that is also going on in general over there.
a team going there might do well to stay together and enquire about the possibility of packing iron.
keep safe,
bruce.

Error in my last post.

The vote in 2005 was for 2009, not 2013.

It's not sounding good !

Kruger’s family, like many, has been touched by violence. “My wife’s aunt — it wasn’t a farm situation — they broke in through the roof, stole her TV, tied her up with cords and she was killed,” he said.
Was written over a year a go though !

“South Africa is a very, very violent country,” she said. “Outside of a war situation, it is the most dangerous country in the world. The statistics are frightening. One in three women in South Africa will be raped. My daughter has two little girls, a three-year-old and a six-month-old. If it’s not my daughter, it will be one of my granddaughters.”

I don't know a lot about the news.com.au website, but it seems to have ties to the Murdoch media, and probably is putting more than a little spin on this story for purposes we aren't aware of. Remember when the Indian media was putting doubts on Australia as a safe place for their students.

Graham,

I’ve asked you to stop, not because I am upset by what is currently going on or what you are posting, but because it is posted in the context of a World Championship, taking place in another 3 years.

Not you nor I can say with any certainty that things there will be better, worse or the same in the future. These barbaric actions have been going on for many years (decades even) and in that time the world has turned a blind eye. I’m all for creating awareness of what is happening, but I am not convinced that this topic, let along this forum is the way to go about it.

Graham, whilst S.A. may be having some internal issues you have no idea what systems and protocols are currently being developed for a safe and secure competition to be run.

This vocal minority that seems to be trying to influence a change in venue for 2021 needs to stop and allow S.A.'s shooting body to make its own decisions, I am sure these people are every bit as competent as they are required to be. The only thing that can come from such comments is division within our small community, and, it is small.

Please keep this in mind when commenting.

Albert and Jase , I’m trying to press the like button on both your posts but not working!
Causing division is certainly not my aim nor is a change of venue!! But bringing to light the risks that only each individual can only weigh up . It’s smart practice to be informed and forewarned!
Be careful not to shoot the messenger !

I think this thread should be locked or deleted! It’s causing too many problems!! :(

No it isn't, the only cause of any problems is you. I'm with Albert and Jason. My own experience, admittedly some years old now, of shooting and touring afterwards in South Africa has been good.

Why are you attaching me Mate ! I’m not making up those news reports !! Or those above quotes!
I haven’t said anything out of order ? I am concerned. Do your research and look up the stats .
And this is what had brought to light , Is our Home affairs minister is trying to fast track visas for white Farmers ! To me has given weight to the situation! Isn’t anybody concerned about it ?

Now I said “ I am concerned “ and everyone is attacking me !! Doesn’t any of this bother you for safety concerns?

You need to calm down Graham. If there are security concerns, they can be addressed. If you in particular are concerned about it, don't nominate.
