Palma Shoot 20th July at Murray Bridge

#1 Postby jcinsa » Mon Jul 07, 2014 9:10 pm

In South Australia, we are holding a program of Palma Range Shoots.

A four stage program will be implemented to run over the next 12 months,
at Murray Bridge, Maitland, Kapunda, and CTV ( included alongside their existing Palma match )

Sunday 20th July has been set for Stage 1 of the Palma Range Shooting program with the Murray Bridge Rifle Club being the first host club.

Range fees and nominations taken from 8am

Start time will be 9am.

Open to all SARA or NRAA affiliated T/R and F-Class shooters.

Ranges shot will be 700m, 800m & 1000yds.

Course of fire will be 2 & 15 at each range.

Shooters will have the option of shooting either String or Bisley Pairs style.

Range fees for the day will be $15-00.

Competitors required to mark.

BBQ sausage sizzle will be available or BYO lunch.

Initial interest in the shoot has been strong with shooters seeing it beneficial towards honing and improving their shooting and wind reading performance at the longer ranges, with South Australian representatives of the Australian Palma Team utilizing it for practice for the World Championships to be held in August 2015 at Camp Perry, Ohio. USA. While some F-Class shooters who are thinking of competing at the next World Championships in Canada will be using it for practice, where Bisley pairs style shooting will be undertaken in individual matches.

Dates for the remaining matches are still to be worked out and will be posted once finalised.

Murray Bridge are shooting 1000yds on Saturday, so there is the option to shoot over 2 days.

Hope to see you there.

Long ranges only, 15 shots, Bisley style.

I wish I could get to this shoot and wish there were more around in this format.

I intend to come to the SARA Queens. Might there be one of these shoots immediately before or after the Queens?

Alan, bring some extra ammo and stick around as immediately following the SARA Queens, Lower Light will be hosting the Long Range Nationals.

October 7th to 12th.

Starting with the South Australian Long Range Championship 3 & 15 to count at 900m & 1000m and 3 & 20 at 1100m.

Followed by the Nationals which would be 3 days of 3 & 15 at 900m, 1000m & 1100m each day then finishing with 3 & 20 at 1100m on day 4 of the Nationals. After which there will be a day and a half of teams shooting at the afore mentioned ranges.

Well done everyone - some impressive shooting for Bisley style.

John - do you have some tentative dates and places for the other shoots?
