State Titles

#1 Postby Barry Davies » Fri Sep 27, 2013 8:25 am

Probably not in the same class as the world matches but non the less part of our local scene and deserves to be mentioned.
Held at Bendigo last weekend.

15 shots at 600 and 700, 10 at 900

FO won by forum member Mike Waites ( bartman ) on a centre count from W Seigloff ( Bendigo DRA ) Score 235-20 Well done Mike.

FS won by Jenny Davies clearly by 4 points from Brad Steer.
Score 223-9

Junior won by Jamie Walker from Castlemaine.
Score 203- 4

Well done to all three.

I'll second that.

The 15-15-10 shots for F-Class was a good idea, but I wonder why its the 900 that only gets 10?

It was done to keep the overall to 40 shots but I see no reason why 900 could not also be 15.
Maybe it could be put up to the VRA for consideration.

So do you run an F class state titles as well as the queens barry? If so is it run by your state association or by VRA? Pm me if you like.

Brad.
During Sept of each year the VRA conduct DRA teams matches as well as State championships ( individual ) all on the same weekend.

Format of the individual championship is---
All club champions compete within their own DRA to decide a DRA champ. who then competes in the State Championship at Bendigo - this is done for both TR and F class ( FO, FS, and junior )
the shoot consists of 15 at 6 and 7 and 10 at 900 for FC. TR shoot 10 at 3,6,7,and 9

The teams consist of either 10 or 5 person in FO, FS and TR all coached. TR shoot 3,6,7 and 900 10 shots FC shoot 15 at 6 and 7 and 10 at 900

TR teams shoot on Saturday together with FC Champions and FC teams shoot Sunday with TR champions.

Barry, may we also consider moving the 900 to 1000 as well as 15 shots :?:

Maybe with the growing numbers in F Class, we could swap the days over too. I think they reduced the elapsed time for the matches on Sunday, just so that we could finish up earlier.

Unfortunately that has a big affect on being able to get 5 shooters through on 1 target, especially when the conditions got a bit rough at 700 yards! Cutting 30 minutes off the elapsed time may have been a tad harsh :?:

Thanks for the kind words Alan and Barry. It's brilliant to see Jenny is back in fine form too!

The weekend was a great deal of fun, with it raining at night and SUNNY during the day!!! And the temperature was just right too :-) It made for great shooting conditions, and the competition was at its best as usual. It is certainly a calendar event that should be on everyone's MUST DO list.

G'day Mike,
I have a few suggestions to put to the VRA for the future. Probably should not air them here, but if anybody has any suggestions which may make this comp better, feel free to send them to the VRA for consideration.
Yes, time limits need looking at -- they were far from sufficient. Swapping days was another.
Problem is they are trying to cram too much into one weekend.
As you say -- a great weekend, and for those who did not get there - that's one you missed out on.

Sounds like a very good interactive shoot within the state. Congrats to all.

Congrats to Jenny, in the champ of champs, was great to see her pick up her first win in this comp, we always have a good time. Jenny missed out to me last year and this year I missed out. All good fun.

Nice to know I got past her in the teams match. :D

See you on Sunday Jenny,

Cheers
Danny :D
