F-Open

I hope to be at Port Campbell on Jan 1 shooting Open. Hopefully we'll get the usual crowd there too. Look at last year's results to get a feel for who makes it.

Paul
Go onto VRA site and click onto " calendar " then click on " Summer by the sea " that will give you a programme of Warrnambool, ranges etc.

Port Campbell

#6 Postby bartman007 » Tue Dec 21, 2010 10:16 pm

Looks like the entry for Port Campbell is only $20. The only thing is that the prize money looks great for A & B Grade TR, however our Class seems to be a bit light on. Maybe this is due to numbers???

Looking at last years numbers F-CLASS had more than B Grade TR, so it would be nice to reflect that in the prize money.

Maybe that would entice more F-Class shooters to their event.

If we continue to turn up, then maybe they'll see the light

The ACT Queens was very good with how they rewarded the winners, Sydney on the other hand was very poor and I suspect numbers suporting these events will rise and fall accordingly.

Prizes

#10 Postby bartman007 » Thu Dec 23, 2010 7:17 pm

The only issue I see is the parity between the various classes.

That is why I looked at last years numbers, related to the prize money on offer.

An anomoly to this situation, is the Moe OPM. Where all grades were treated equally. And quite richly I might add. Well done Moe Rifle Club!

Some OPM flyers state that the executive reserves the right to alter the prize pool as deemed appropriate on the day.

If a few more took that approach, then we may see a more even split.

After all, this sport isn't a money making exercise......well not for majority of us. It's all about enjoying the competition and the day.

As a new comer i havent been to a OPM (other than the presentation at moe) so i dont know how well they all work. To me it would seem farer if the prize money for each division/grade is worked out on a percentage of the entry fee in each division/grade.

The benifits i see are:
* the host club wont loose money by paying out a lot of money in the unsupported grades/divisions
* shooters in the bigger divisions/grades can play for more money or more places
* it will encourage more people to enter the lesser attended divisions/grades to help increae the prize pool.

Paul,

I know you're keen to unleash that 6x47 again. Have I got an OPM for you \:D/!! Rosedale Sat March 19 : 300, 500, 600 yds Sun March 20 : 800, 900, 1000 yds. We've had at least 7 starters in F-Open for the last 4 years. And there will be four 7mms making their debut this year, 2 284Wins and 2 Shehanes!!!

Now before you say its too far, there's a route that will get you here several hours quicker than Warrnambool. Wodonga, Beechworth, Bright, then turn right onto the Dargo Road about 20km past Harrietville. From Dargo you drop down to the Princes Highway about 60km from Rosedale - dead easy. But don't expect the competition to be easy! :D :D
