OPEN DAY ---BENDIGO

#1 Postby Guest » Sun Dec 04, 2005 6:09 pm

Following a "Participation " Day a couple of weeks ago at Bendigo's Lake Weeroona, An open " come and try " day was held today at Bendigo's Wellsford rifle range.
Organization was carried out by the VRA and was preceeded by advertising on local radio, TV and newspaper.

Advertising cost in the vicinity of $1500 and each visitor was given 10 shots free of charge with the option of buying a further 10 shots.

All shooting was done with 5.56 rifles using factory ammo. Some rifles were scoped and some were fitted with aperature sights. All shooting was done from rests.

All visitors were firstly given a lecture on safety prior to shooting.

Turnout exceeded all expectations with 115 ( yes, one hundred and fifteen ) visitors trying out.

The day turned into somewhat of a marathon, starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm.
We had 6 targets in use.

Special thanks to members of Wangaratta, Bendigo, South Bendigo and Castlemaine Rifle Clubs who gave up their time to look after the visitors and mark targets.

A lot of work and a lot of expense and the success of which will only be gauged by how many new members we get..

Congratulations to all concerned.
