paul
45cal 2.6"case loaded with a 550 gn paper patch bullet over about 100 gn of 1f powder will do it if the rear sight staff is high enough.
the back position is recommended.

Paul,

If your Weaver has 60min of elevation adjustment, then theoretically you'll be able to get both 300yds and 1500yds with the same rail slope. However, be aware that some scopes have big problems as they get close to the extremes of reticule adjustment. You might find that you can wind up the elevation for 1500yds, but at the same time lose most of your windage adjustment. It seems you can't simultaneously use the extreme adjustment of elevation and windage.

There will be aiming marks on top of the stop but to help those with out enough elev . should be good for 10 to 15 moa.

There you go - common sense rules =D> . Probably no need for a new rail Pestbird.

That is a good point Alan about running out of windage at extreme elevation.
I will be trying my rifle by shimming the rail, to see how far I have to elivat it. I will also see how much windage I have left .

The extra aiming marks will be a great help, good idea.

Cheers

Coonabarrabran 1500yd shoot is getting closer now (in time, not distance). How many people from here will be turning up?
Does anyone know how many entries they have so far?

Rod,

Let's see, you, me, BruceKnees, plus some of the regular MR shooters such as MikeH, Ratshot, BainP. And many more MR shooters not members of this site, possibly including the Poms.

I'll be on the Dargo High Plains Road in the morning - can't wait! \:D/

Hey Paul, I thought you were going to turn up, what happened? Not another case of work getting in the way of a good time? I hope we get a good turn out. It sounds like we already some some quality, but some quantity would be good as well.

Yes Paul - we need you to come and "make up the numbers" .

Actually, we may laugh, but that WSM with the 210 Bergers would be awesome at 1500. If its on again next year, make it compulsory!

Yep, work got in the way again, or should I say, lack of hollidays.

If the invite is on again next year, I will certainly do my best to get there.

Cheers
