Can anybody explain why there is three sighters in FStd in SA this year.when Std Shooting Rules clearly state two?

I have not been to any Queens or OPMs. All I could say is that it falls under SSR 20.2.1.19 Sighting Shots - "Unless specified in the match conditions, the competitor shall be entitled to two convertible sighting shots for each match." You would have to check what the specified match conditions were for the event.

On the entry Form under conditions it says " The meeting will be conducted under standard shooting rules " which means 2 convertable sighters.
Further down on the entry form it says 3 convertable sighters for both Hunt and Queens----Contradictory!!!

I don't think so Barry - rule 20.2.1.19 is part of the Standard Shooting Rules, and it allows a different number of sighters if specified in the match conditions, which has been done.

In other words the Standard Shooting Rules include any exceptions allowed in the Rules themselves.

Alan, you are correct, however I believe this was not the intent of the rule. The intent being that FS would only get two sighters in contrast to FO who get three.
Having looked at this rule pertaining to both FS and FO it follows that the organizing body can impose as many or as few sighters as they like providing it is stated in the match conditions. ie FO could be limited to 2 or even 1.
While on that rule, FS specifically mentions " convertable " sighters, FO does not. Does that mean that FO in fact cannot convert sighters ? Because in keeping with the interpretation of some ---If the rule book does not say you can, then you cannot.

Barry,

Perhaps the F-Std rule should have said 2 sighters, no exceptions.

Regarding F-Open, rule 20.1.1.27 has appeared in the September edition for the first time i.e. the March SSRs had nothing about F-Open sighters. I can also tell you that I looked up the submission that was made by the F-Open rules sub-committee:
Sighting Shots
Three (3) convertible sighting shots per range.

Obviously the 'convertible' was lost somewhere - however its one of those things thats assumed - in the same way it is assumed in both Open and Std that you can't drop the second sighter, but keep the first.

I have checked with Paul Gale from SARA and he has indicated that FS will be 2 sighters and FO 3 sighters. It was an oversight in their printing
"Aim small, miss small"

Stop stirring John :D - and answer a question:

What are the ranges for the Vic DRA Teams this year? Some seem to think it will be 300, 600, 900, 1000 i.e. the 700 has been dropped in favour of 1000?

Cleaning Fluid?

#13 Postby Marty » Sun Sep 23, 2007 11:14 pm

Hi all.
Going to attend the SA Queens, but due to very tight work commitments, I have to fly in and out.
This means I can't bring any cleaning fluid due to airline Dangerous Goods laws.
Was wondering if there is anyone out there who would be so kind as to let me use enough Hoppes#9 and Sweets 7.62 to allow me to clean my barrel twice.
Once Saturday arvo and once Sunday arvo.
With thanks,
Marty Lobert.

Hi Marty

Not a problem, we carry both with us and would be more than happy to help you out. Just catch up with Trev or myself on the range, Trev is shooting FO so shouldn't be too hard to find, someone will point him out to you.

Marty,

Great to hear you're making the effort to get there. See you on Saturday.
