SYDNEY QUEENS

#1 Postby Matt P » Thu Sep 13, 2007 8:17 pm

The lead up had another quality turn up for FS, 16 I think.
Another piss poor show from FO a total of 4, and if Kelvin Bell hadn't travelled from Queensland it would have been 3 !!!
And people ask why I'm going to FS
Anyway enough of my whinging will try to keep you updated over the next 3 days.

I see there are some excellent results from the lead up.

Good luck if your shooting the Queens, Matt

Richard,

I believe the "count-out" column is either the last range score of the day, or the last daily agg of the shoot. They would have had shoot-offs in the lead-up for both F-Open and Std - the 0.01 seems to be used to show who won the shoot-off.

Let's wait and see how many enter the Queens field in F-Open before coming to any conclusions. From what I've seen, the local shooters often just attend the Queens, probably because they don't need the leadup to acclimatise, and because they don't need 5 days shooting to justify a long trip like the interstaters.

Congrats to Barb Moritz and Dennis Shallis =D> , and commiserations to the runners-up, particularly my mate Kel, who supports F-Open all around Australia.

Well the first day is over, thank god had a shocker !!!
Conditions where, well like Canberra overcast, raining, sunshine, rain , hail and then sunshine. Wind was strong l-r for most of the day from about 3-4 @ 300 up to about 8-10 @ 600. There was a complete reversal half way thru the last range and a few shooters got belted quite badly, once the rain and hail went away conditions settled down to about 2-3 r-l.
I think there were 24 in FS and about 8 in FO.
Barb Moritz leads the field in FS only 3 points down, 2 points in front of Alan Seaman.

Its nice to know you're human :D !

Yeah using the stretcher, elevation hasn't been an issue, it's been the dickhead steering it, like winding the 2nd sighter off the target @ 300, not having a good wind zero. Anyway can't use all my excuses, it's only the 1st day.

Well day 2 is over and I've managed to move up the board but no inroads into the 8 points behind Barb Moritz, there was a 3 way shoot off for the day agg and managed to come 3rd in that. Conditions where tricky today but not as strong as yesterday, no rain or hail which was good. Two ranges to go and much work to do.
The badge list for FS is fairly average, 24 entries and 3 badges, C grade, 10 badges and 14 entries, B grade, 20 badges and 34 entries. I don't know what it will take for some to beleive that F Class isn't going away EVEN if you do ignore it, but we may take our money to the State Ass that do support us !!!!

What that says, Matt, is that there are too many badges for B and C Grades, which diminishes the kudos of winning a badge in those grades.
When you get a badge in FS, you will know that it was well earned, and that's as it should be.
When Grading becomes universal in FS, as it most surely will, it will necessarily mean smaller fields in each Grade initially, so the Badge list will need to be adjusted accordingly.
Good luck for the longs --- 8 points is a big break, but it's not impossible to make up. Well, one long anyway -- I just looked at the program -- still best of luck.

Congratulations to Barbara Moritz on her emphatic win, and to Mat and Rob for running 2nd and third respectively, in such a good field.

Well another Queens is over, made a good start this morning at 500 getting back 3 of the 8 points in reasonably nice conditions, but got belted at the 800 with a 54 and Barb got a nice patch and made the most of it with a 59 to take the range, the day agg and the Queens by 10.
Had a great 3 days, it was good to shoot against a big field for a change, hope see you all at Canberra.

Great debut in F-Std Matt. Its probably going to take you a few shoots to get a feel for the .308 ballistics. Barb Moritz has established herself as the one to beat this year, so we can look forward to some good contests.

Well done to Barb in F-Std and Mal Henderson in F-Open. =D>

Well done Barbara, no mean feat amongst the quality field as it was.
Well done also Matt and I guess that now you can see the differences between FO and FS and hopefully appreciate that FS is a stand alone discipline in it's own right.
Brickbats to the NSWRA for their attitude to both FS and FO, neither got a mention in the daily reports, nor did either F class winner warrant a photograph.
How bloody biased can you get?
No Doubt F Class will get better treatment at Canberra in November.
