Thanks Bruce. That's the attraction of F Open for me. Any cartridge, projectile and plenty of weight to play with.
I think some get frightened off by the so called "exotic cartridges"...there is no such thing. For competition I only use 2 cartidges, 6x47 and 284w.
Another thing, no grading in FO and that is the way it must stay. I have been shooting for over 30years and my wife started only a few years ago and has won prize shoots and daily aggs at queens. I know there are less of us in FO but we are there shooting and no one can take that away.

Cheers

I like your thinking Cameron. F-Open is good - there's no need (or likelihood) of a huge increase in numbers. We need to encourage a few more in WA perhaps, but on the whole Queens competitions are well enough attended by good shooters to make them well worthwhile. In fact I think the bar has been raised over the last year or so, and you really need to have all parts of the "package" working well to get a badge. As for grading, for the first time in my career I've been languishing in the lower half of the order. Do I wish there was a B-Grade to possibly put me back on the dais? - no way. Grading has never been part of F-Open, and what I need now is to dig a bit deeper, that's all. Did you hear that Rod Davies, be VERY (slightly?) afraid....

And Cameron, you and Julie could ask Dave to pick you up on his way down to the Sydney Queens  !

Trust me Alan, now I am afraid. But you will possibly also be disappointed if you are hoping f/Open stays small. A few shooters (not just F/std) have been asking questions about building up various other exotic calibers.
Cameron. Can I borrow your 308AI reamer. I have just picked up my 308 rifle from Matt (to slum it in Fstd and F/TR) and I think the chamber is a little tight.

Rod,

When I wrote that it was mostly bravado - I had no idea of the impending form reversal (and a bit of luck I might add).

F-Open numbers at ANZAC were good - do you sense that some NSW OPMs might be having a change of heart soon?

Cameron,

We have been using them for the past month, with great results I might add

Maybe you should get some too 8)

The powder is a bit hard to come by, being rocket fuel. But you certainly don't have issues with being able to get to 3000 fps.

That 22-250AI case has sold me on rechambering my 22-250 with a nice 7 twist barrel.

Seddo,

Sounds like another 6.5x284 situation (Barrel Burner).

Tell me its not so.

You need to sell that barrel and get one that can handle the laser guidance system.

Cheers,

Bartman.
