Preliminary testing today with the same load in a 223 (only 24gr 2208 seated just off the lands) revealed slightly tighter groups and more consistent performance with berger VLD than sierra matchkings, producing a 100/9X on the easier ISSF target at 300m. Elevation required was 1/4MOA less, no other changes, so you would have to be happy with that....... (this light load is just used for 3&400m)

cheers andrew

Where i bought the .224 80 gr @ $42/100, the 155gr VLD .308s are $64/100 !

There would have to be some serious bulk purchase to bring them down to what most people consider reasonable.

Prices have changed on Berger....

224 80 gr @ $38/100, the 155gr VLD .308s are $57/100 , so things are moving in the right direction............

I would say $57 is still too much to interest most FS shooters, but the 22cal projectiles are definitely in the ballpark........

mac,
i remember very unhappily the days when our dollar was $0.47 u.s.
in fact i bought a nesika action at that time and it still hurts.
when it went up to $0.53 things looked better.
let's hope such times don't return for berger users and jlk users.
keep safe,
bruce.

john,
i can remember when a brno mod 2 was 37 pounds and 10 shillings, and buying a new lee enfield for 10 pounds to shoot in school cadets. second hand ones were 5 pounds.
a box of ici high speed hollow points was less than 10 shillings, and winchester 22 ammo was yet to be seen in oz.
can't remember what blue star shotshells cost, but they were super modern with star crimps, and most shotshells had cardboard shells and a roll crimp.
gunshops used to give you factory pamphlets on rifles, and with the american ones you divided the $us by 2 to get the aust price in pounds.
later it was dollar for dollar.
do you remember when the rem 700 came out?
oh how things change over the years.
i used to catch the bus carrying a 303 and noone even batted an eyelid.
you might guess by now that i am very old and wrinkly and grey, but some still refer to me as a handsome devil, even going so far as to refer to me as "the silver fox".
keep safe,
bruce.

Bruce,

I better shut my mouth. My new-in-the-grease '42 Lithgow was 5 quid in 1964 & 3 quid a year or so later for the Rawson pep sight.

Hi all,

Just wondering if there is any news about the JLK projectiles yet ie. price, when available and through who?

Thanks,
Firepower usally means an increased number of misses per minute. 50 misses are not firepower. One hit is firepower

Thanks
