Foresite mount size

#1 Postby scott/r » Mon Jan 08, 2018 5:33 am

Guys, I was given an old 98 mauser target rifle about 12 months ago and finally got around to changing it back to a t/r setup yesterday. It's in pretty good shape for it's age with a 1:14 26" madco barrel on it. When I went to put a barrel mount on it for the front tunnel, the spare one I had in the draw wouldn't fit. It's id is .750" were the barrel od is .800" . Was this, or is this a norm. I'm unaware of different size mounts, but I haven't been around these sights long enough for that to mean anything.
If it is right, are the bigger mounts still available?

Scott,
To the best of my knowledge 0.75" was the standard. I am unaware of any at 0.800". Keith Hills may know more.

after the 44B Omark barrel showed up, .8 was standard until metrics came along some time after which they went to 19 mm which is close enough to .75.
