Gehmann rear iris disassembly

#1 Postby wilson85 » Wed May 10, 2017 3:05 pm

Hello Everyone

My missus has a Gehmann 510 basic rear iris on the Central on her omark. It feels pretty sloppy/loose when winding the aperture down around 0.5.

Does anyone have any instructions on how to pull it down and replace a spring or adjust it?

Cheers
Anthony

Engineers hammer.

Seriously, once upon a time, James Corbett (JJJ) used to send them back to Germany for repair but i don't know if he still does or if it would be cost effective. Otherwise, you might be on your own.

Hi.
I think all Gehmann rear sight thingsy have a 30 yr guarantee. But if you send it back to Germany this is what is going to happen, as from Gehmann reply email..
" Thanks for your mail.
If you have access to an ultrasonic bath, you can just put the 510s inside together with water and some detergent.
Let it work a few hours and then remove the water with compressed air.
Should work fine, that is what also we would do".

I am still a very new shooter, just very inquisitive, perhaps some A grade gurus will know better, but Sir that's my 2 cents worth.

It's not that complex. I've had my 565 iris apart and got it back together without problems.

They include the spanners disassemble it if you brought it new.

Key thing is when disassembling it lay the parts out in order, and then inspect, clean and assemble each part in reverse order.

Thanks for the replies gents. I do appreciate it!

I ended up ordering her a new iris for it. Got a couple of OPMs coming up very shortly and don't want it to fail then.

I will be having a go at pulling the old one apart to see what's going on.

peter hi ,
they are very simple to pull apart and reassemble ,yours is one of the more simple ones.
i would hazard a guess that the two small screws at the back have come loose,a real easy fix.
good luck.
